1.1 International Electrical SymbolsThis symbol signifies that the instrument is protected by double or reinforced insulation. This symbol on the instrument indicates a WARNING and that the operator must refer to the user manual for instructions before operating the instrument. In this manual, the symbol preceding instructions indicates that if the instructions are not followed, bodily injury, installation/sample and product damage may result.Risk of electric shock. The voltage at the parts marked with this symbol may be dangerous. This symbol refers to a type B current sensor. Do not apply around or remove from HAZARDOUS LIVE conductors without additional protective means (de-energizing the circuit or wearing protective clothing suitable for high voltage work).

OPERATION
Pleasemakesure thatyouhavealready readand fullyunderstand theWARNINGsectiononpage2.
4.1 Making Measurements with the FlexProbe®
1. ConnecttheelectronicmoduletotheACVoltrangeofyourDMMormeasuringinstrument.
2. Select the appropriate module output voltage range. If the currentmagnitudeisunknown,selectthe3000Arange.
3. Wraptheflexiblecorearoundtheconductortobetested.Selectthe300Arange toobtain thebest resolution, if the reading is less than300mV.
Do not exceed specified current range for the output. Do not use on selected range if Overload LED goes on.
4. Example:
a. ReadtheDMMdisplayedvalue:2.59V
b. DeterminetherangeandoutputusedontheFlexProbe:0.01V/Aforthe300Arange;.001V/Aforthe3000Arange
c. Dividethereadingbytheoutputtodeterminetheactualcurrentvalue:2.59÷0.01=259Aor2.59÷0.001=2590A

4.2 Tips for Making Precise Measurements
• When using the FlexProbe® with a meter, it isimportant to select the range that provides thebest resolution. Failure to do this may result inmeasurementerrors.
• For best results, select the highest FlexProbe® output signal possible and the most sensitivemeterrangeforthisoutput.
• MakesuretheDMMormeasuringinstrumentcanaccurately measure mVAC. Certain inexpensiveDMM have poor resolution and accuracy whenmeasuringlowmVAC.
• Forbestaccuracy,centertheFlexProbe®aroundtheconductortobemeasured.
• Toincreasethesensitivityormeasureonlowcur-rents, the FlexProbe® may be wrapped severaltimesaroundtheconductor.Remembertodivideyourreadingbythenumberofturnsfortheactualmeasurement(SeeFigure1).
• TheoverallmeasurementaccuracyisthesumoftheFlexProbe® accuracyandthedisplayinginstru-mentaccuracy.
• TheFlexProbe®maybedoubledaroundthecon-ductortobemeasuredtodoubletheoutput.(SeeFigures1and2toshowthedifferentvaluesonaDMMwhilemeasuring250AAC.)
