PRESENTATION OF THE LORD
The Presentation of the Lord concludes the
celebration of the Nativity and with the offerings of
the Virgin Mother and the prophecy of Simeon, the events now point toward
Easter. 2 falls on a Sunday and thus takes precedence. There are two ways of
celebrating the ceremony, either the Procession,
which begins at a 'gathering place' outside
the church, or the Solemn Entrance, celebrated
within the church."— From Ceremonies of the
Liturgical Year
THIRD SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
What does it mean for the Church, for us, today to be disciples of Jesus the
Lamb of God? It means putting innocence in the place of malice, love
in the place of force, humility in the place of pride, service in the place of
prestige. It is good work! We Christians must do this: put innocence in the place of malice, love in the place of force, humility in the place of pride,
service in the place of prestige. Being disciples of the Lamb means that we must not live like a “city under siege,”
but like a city on a hill, open, welcoming, solidary. It means not
having an attitude of closedness, but proposing the Gospel to everyone,
testifying with our life that following Jesus makes us more free and more
joyful. — Pope Francis Angelus Address January
19, 2014
St. Patrick Church3716 Garden AvenueMiami Beach, FL 33140Tel: 305-531-1124
MT 11:25-30The Gospel is from St. Matthew 11:25-30. Ours is a world which is in an all-out search for new idols. It is a world which has left the path marked out by Christ, and forgotten or tried to forget, that man's life does not end with death. To be a Christian and to have the light of faith to guide
our steps in this neo-pagan darkness, is surely a gift, and a blessing from God, for which we can never thank Him enough. Thank you, God, for this gift. Please give us the grace and the courage to live up to it and
to die in the certainty that we shall hear, as we shut our eyes on the light of this world, the consoling words, "come you blessed of my
Father, possess the kingdom prepared for you."Excerpted from The Sunday Readings by Fr. Kevin O'Sullivan, O.F.M.

ROM 8:9, 11-13The second reading is from the Letter of St. Paul to the Romans 8:9, 11-13. The Pauline teaching is not that part of man is redeemed
and part of him is damnable. Rather man's whole personality is
redeemed by the sacrifice of Christ.
ZEC 9:9-10The first reading is taken from
the Book of the Prophet Zechariah 9:9-10 and indicates that the humility asked for by
Jesus is the kind that he himself endured.

Intenciones de MisaThe custom of requesting a priest to offer the Mass for
a specific intention, even when one cannot bephysically present at the Mass, is a longstanding
tradition in the Church. This is because the Church considers the Mass as thegreatest possible prayer of intercession insofar as it isthe perfect offering of Christ to the Father by making
present the paschal mystery of his death andresurrection.
You may request a Mass Intention by visiting or calling the Parish Office. Mass Intentions are
posted in the Parish Bulletin, and on our website:https://stpatrickmiamibeach.com/church/mass-

When we think of being good stewards, we may think that God is
asking too much of us when He calls us to generously share our time, talent,
and treasure. However, we must remember that we are not “owners” of anything, we are merely “stewards” of
the gifts God has given us. All He is asking is that we give back a small
portion, in gratitude, of what He has already given to us.
generosamente nuestro tiempo, talento y tesoro.

POPE FRANCIS COMPOSES A PRAYER TO OUR LADY, HEALTH OF THE SICK, TO IMPLORE HER PROTECTION DURING THE COVID-19 CORONAVIRUS EPIDEMIC.
O Mary, you shine continuously on our journey as a sign of salvation and hope.We entrust ourselves to you, Health of the Sick.At the foot of the Cross you participated in Jesus’ pain, with steadfast faith. You, Salvation of the Roman People, know what we need.We are certain that you will provide, so that,as you did at Cana of Galilee, joy and feasting might return after this moment of trial.Help us, Mother of Divine Love,to conform ourselves to the Father’s willand to do what Jesus tells us:He who took our sufferings upon Himself, and bore our sorrows to bring us,through the Cross, to the joy of the Resurrection. Amen.
We seek refuge under your protection, O Holy Mother of God.Do not despise our pleas – we who are put to the test – and deliver us from every danger, O glorious and blessed Virgin.
Act of Spiritual CommunionSpiritual Comunion Prayer
Spiritual Communion is an ardent desire to receive Jesus in the Most Holy Sacrament. The
most common reason for making an Act of Spiritual Communion is when a person cannot
attend Mass. Acts of Spiritual Communion increase our desire to receive sacramental
Communion and help us avoid sin.My Jesus, I believe that you are present in the
Most Holy Sacrament.I love you above all things and I desire to receive
you in my soul.Since I cannot at this moment receive you
sacramentally,Come at least spiritually into my heart.
I embrace you as if you were already thereAnd unite myself wholly to you.
Never permit me to be separated from you.Amen.
Living the Liturgy Inspiration for the Week
The flesh is our old self of yesterday and the one we left
behind in baptism. It is the self of doubts and fears, sin and error,
reluctance, untamed passion, and errors in judgment. It is also the self of missed opportunities and roads untraveled. Although we
were baptized many years ago, every day is another day to live,
not according to the flesh of yesterday with its regrets and
misgivings, but rather to live the life of the spirit of today and
tomorrow. The burdens of our personal baggage and of life
itself can weigh us down. The love of Jesus Christ and the life
of the spirit can pick us up, refresh us, and provide us with the hope for new opportunities
and discoveries. Because we have been baptized in Christ,
we need not be anxious about what we did or did not do yesterday or anxious about
what will come tomorrow. We need only to seek out the love
that is before us, around us, and in us and learn.
nosotros y aprender.
