presence of President R CPuri.

While paying tributes,Gandotra said that ComradeDhanwantri gave exemplarysacrifices fighting along withShaheed-e-Aazm BhagatSingh, Chander ShekharAzad, Sukhdev, Rajguru,Shiv Verma and others forthe freedom of country.

Dhanwantri was the ideo-logue and activist of the

Revolutionary Group led byBhagat Singh and ChanderShekhar Azad, who had thevision and programme to lib-erate India from Britishslavery besides making Indiaa Socialist State, he said.

Mahajan demanded nam-ing of a prominent crossingin Jammu City as ComDhanwantri Chowk alongwith installation of a statueand opening of a library.

STATE TIMES NEWSJAMMU: A delegation of members of Force (an Association of pri-vate colleges) affiliated with University of Jammu, headed byHarbans Singh, former Minister and President of the Association,on Thursday met Vice Chancellor of University of Jammu, ProfManoj Dhar to apprise him about various issue of private collegesfunctioning in Jammu province.

While interacting with Prof Dhar, various issues pertaining toB.Ed and Nursing colleges were discussed threadbare, whichincluded introduction of 4 year BA-B.Ed integrated course, holdingof Management as well as selection Committee meetings regularly,optimal utilisation of infrastructural facilities by adding part-timevocational courses, meetings with Force members at least twice ayear, conduct of University Exams in private college, abolition ofACC visits, NAAC etc.

The Vice Chancellor, while addressing delegation, stressed uponmaintaining quality education in the institutes. He said that all col-leges are part and parcel of the University and we all have to workin tandem for inclusive growth. As far as the University of Jammuis concerned, we will leave no stone unturned to make all colleges aplace of quality education, he added. Prof Dhar also assured fullsupport to organise literary activities in entire province by involvingoff-campus teams of educationists along with teams of JammuUniversity. STATE TIMES NEWSJAMMU: In wake of unfortu-nate Pulwama incident andsubsequent developments, par-ticularly in Jammu region, themembers of Jammu CivilSociety for Peace andBrotherhood (JCSPB) laidstress for maintaining peaceand centuries-old communalharmony in the region.

While addressing media per-sons here, the JCSPB mem-bers said "While Pulwama car-nage of 14th February, 2019left everyone deeply anguishedand hurt but developments inthe aftermath also inspired usto raise a collective voice ofanger and strong condemna-tion. Jammu Civil Society forPeace and Brotherhood hascome into being to prevent col-lateral damages to the society,that incidents of terrorisminflict. We must not lose sightof the fact that real intent ofsuch incidents is to pose chal-lenge to social, political andeconomic environments in its

aftermath. Those acting irra-tionally in reaction to such inci-dents eventually play in thehands of anti-nationals andanti-social elements."

STATE TIMES NEWSJAMMU: Two-day NationalConference on 'EmergingTrends in Quality Assuranceand Enhancement in SoftwareDevelopment' jointly organisedby the Department ofComputer Sciences & IT andDirectorate of Internal QualityAssurance, University ofJammu concluded here onThursday.

Prof Anju Bhasin, ViceChancellor, Cluster Universityof Jammu, was the ChiefGuest during valedictory func-tion and commended theefforts of the department forsuccessfully organising theconference.

Prof Bhasin further saidthat the tracks and researchtalks were highly technical andcovered contemporary issuesof computer science. He saidthat the link between teachingand research was very impor-tant and such conferencesshould be organised regularlyfor betterment of students andscholars.

Dr Meenakshi Kilam,Registrar, University ofJammu and Director,Directorate of Internal QualityAssurance, in her address,talked about the importance ofquality assurance.

Prof Lalit Sen Sharma,Convener of the Conferenceand Head, Department ofComputer Science & IT, for-mally welcomed the guests and

apprised the delegates aboutdifferent academic andresearch activities being takenup by the Department.

STATE TIMES NEWSJAMMU: A 60-memberIndian Army contingent fromthe Udhampur-basedNorthern Command will leavefor Oman next week for ajoint military exercise, adefence official said onThursday.

Northern CommandG e n e r a l - O f f i c e r -Commanding-In-Chief LtGen Ranbir Singh interactedwith the contingent onThursday.

The team is participating inthe fortnight-long 'Al-NagahIII', the third in a series ofbilateral army exercisesbetween the two countries,the spokesman said.

Lt Gen Singh said the exer-cise is scheduled to be heldfrom March 12-March 25 atJabel Al Akhdar mountainsand it will see the two armies

exchange expertise and expe-rience in tactics, weapon-han-dling and firing.

The exercise aims toenhance interoperability inantiterrorist operations insemiurban mountainous ter-rain, the spokesman said.

The bilateral security tieshave continued to developsince the beginning of India-Oman Joint MilitaryCooperation meetings in2006, underscoring thestrategic partnership betweentwo important nations ofIndian Ocean Region (IOR).

The Indian contingent willbe represented by four offi-cers, nine JuniorCommissioned Officers and47 other ranks of the GarhwalRifles Regiment, Thespokesman said.

Regiment of Royal Army ofOman (RAO).

Observer delegation com-prising senior officers of boththe armies will witness thevalidation demonstration tobe held on March 25, thespokesman said.

STATE TIMES NEWSJAMMU: Prof Bhim Singh, Chief Patron ofNational Panthers Party made a appeal to thePresident, Ramnath Kovind to take muchdelayed decision for extending allFundamental Rights of Indian Constitution tothe residents of J&K (Indian citizens), so thatConstitution of India is extended to the Statewith Indian Flag, which has been delayed for70 years. He said that people of J&K havedemonstrated and proved their commitmentto secularism and brotherhood even in 1947,when India was divided.
