• Founded in 1954 by the Grey Sisters of the Immaculate Conception

• Follows the example of Saint Marguerite d’Youville

• Portion of the property was home to the first General Hospital built in 1892

Committee StructuresDiscuss the various Committees operating in

the home– Occupational Health and Safety– Professional Advisory – Senior Management– Ethics– Wellness Committee– Others (Falls Prevention, Wound Care etc)

• All staff is expected to present themselves in a manner that promotes a professional image, both in words and actions.

• Staff shall promote mutual respect with other staff members within the facility and are expected to contribute to a safe, healthy and secure work environment, free of abuse, neglect, harassment and discrimination.

Employee Conduct

Employee Conduct• Staff shall actively encourage and assist

resident to become as independent as physically and mentally able. This includes establishing constructive relationships with residents and their families to encourage their successful integration into the long term care community. Staff shall avoid conflicts of interest with residents or their families.

Employee Conduct• Relationships shall demonstrate honesty, fairness and

integrity and respect for each individual’s cultural, racial, religious and ethnic background and for their civil and legal rights. Staff will not enter into business or private ventures that may be, or appear to be, in conflict with their employment duties and responsibilities.

• Staff has an obligation to follow the instructions of their

supervisors or any member in charge of the workplace and should use appropriate steps to address concerns in a constructive and professional manner.

Employee Conduct• Staff shall treat information acquired through

their employment in a confidential manner consistent with the confidentiality policy of the corporation, Min of Health standards, Access to Information Act, the Privacy Act and any other relevant legislation. Employees shall ensure that appropriate information is shared in a timely manner with supervisors, residents, families, other agencies and with the public as required by legislation and company policy.
