Getting hereThe main access point to the wood is the car park off Gangers Hill, south of Woldingham in the eastern side of the woods.
The car park leads to a stone, surfaced public bridleway running north and another surfaced permissive bridleway to the left of this.
The nearest public transport is from Woldingham railway station, one mile from the woods.
There are no public toilets on site.

Countless wildflowers bloom on the three areas of species-rich chalk grassland and their stunning scent and colour attracts a host of butterflies and other insects. Visit in spring or summer and you’ll be amazed by the wonderful colours on display, including carpets of bluebells.
A total of 25 species of butterfly can be spotted, including the marbled white. To keep this vital habitat full of wildflowers the Woodland Trust seasonally grazes sheep and goats to control the scrub. Please be patient if the paths in this area are closed during your visit.

The vibrant mix of woodland and grassland forming Marden Park is an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty which teems with wildlife.
The site is divided into two, with the ancient woodland of Great Church Woods to the far east of the wood. Together they form one of the largest Woodland Trust sites in Surrey.

Treasures of the pastImmersing yourself in the beauty of Marden Park takes you into some of the UK’s most treasured landscapes. The ancient woodland dates back at least 400 years and the magnificent towering beech trees are more than 150 years old.
With a rich diversity of trees including whitebeam, field maple, lime and hornbeam, don’t forget to look down and appreciate the flowers of the forest floor including dogs mercury. You may also notice the dormouse boxes we have installed to monitor these dainty residents.
