HOLI – THE FESTIVAL OF COLORS
Holi Mahotsav is a grand and uniquefestival of colour, friendship and harmony. Itattracts a diverse cross section of Australiansand each year is growing in popularity. Morethan 100,000 people enjoy the spectacle ofHoli Mahotsav of which 60% were from Indiansubcontinent / South Asian communities.A mixture of cultures come together underone banner to experience the ability ofpeople to unite and transcend boundaries ofrace, caste and creed, culture, age and genderor simply rejoice in the array of culturalperformances.Presenter: As one of the largest NGO’s inthe world, the Bharatiya VidyaBhavan (The Bhavan), literally meaning theHouse of Indian Knowledge/Wisdom, has over367 constituent institutions. The SydneyCentre is its first in Australia. The organizationhas been playing a crucial role in educationaland cultural interactions in the world, holdingaloft the best of Indian traditions and at thesame time meeting the needs of modernityand multiculturalism.

Rath Yatra - Street Processionwhere hand pulled chariots accompany a largecrowd dancing and singing along. The paradestarts in Darling Harbour going through themain streets of Sydney CBD before culminatingback in Tumbalong Park where the festivitiesand celebrations continue.
Cultural Performances are heldthroughout the festival by hundreds ofnational and international artists ofdifferent cultural backgrounds. Theseartists represent a rich mixture ofculture, spirituality and entertainment.
Yoga and MeditationSessions are held on stageand in marquees.
Sacred Holi Fire Ceremony is believed to drive away evil from the society.
Colour sessions arethe highlight of the festival.People from diversecommunities participate inthe colour throwingsessions. The coloursessions are perfect pictureof peace and harmonywhere people fromdifferent background jointo play colours together.

❖ Over 150 artists from allover Australia come toperform at Holi Mahotsav.These artists represented arich mixture of religion,culture, spiritually andentertainment.
❖ In 2017 Holi Mahotsavincluded Incredible IndiaHoli Walk whichcommenced fromTumbalong Park and aftercompleting the full cyclewithin the entire precinct ofDarling Harbour returned toTumbalaong Park. This yearHoli Festival includesVaisakhi and Easter withincredible Rath Yatra Paradeof Chariots.

media throughout the years. ❖ In 2007 a 25 minutes long video on Holi Mahotsav
was shown on BBC, The British BroadcastingCorporation
❖ In 2008 and 2009 the Sydney Magazine in theweekend issue of Sydney Morning Heraldpublished a full story with pictures on HoliMahotsav.
❖ In 2010 the reputed journalist John Huxley ofSydney Morning Herald published an extensivearticle on Holi Mahotsav named Part Bollywoodglitz, part other-worldly bliss - and heaps of fun
❖ In March 2012 Departures, a magazine fromBerlin, featured Holi Mahotsav in one of its wellknown articles.
❖ In 2013 HIA (The Housing Industry Association)published a Holi Mahotsav article in HousingMagazine which reaches a readership of 112,000plus people.
❖ In 2014 Holi Mahotsav was aired on ABCCompass, an Australian weekly TV news-documentary program.
