What is Human Resource Management?

Human Resource management is the body of knowledge and a set of practices that determine the nature of work and regulate the employment relationship. HRM is the relationship. HRM is the function within an organization that focuses on recruitment, management and providing direction for the people who work in the Organization.

Functional Areas:-

Staffing Staffing Operates & run with

recruiting people with appropriate skills, knowledge, abilities and experience to fill jobs in the work organization.

HR PLANNING Process for assuring and

determination that organization will have adequate number of qualified persons available at a specific time, doing jobs which would meet requirements of the particular organization and provide satisfaction for the persons required.

JOB ANALYSIS  Collection and study of information relating

to the responsibilities and operations of a specific job. - Collection of facts, data and ideas relating to different aspects of jobs including men machine and materials. Preparation of employee specification and job description w/c help in identifying the nature and levels of HR. Providing plans, guides and basis for job design and for all operative function of HRM.

 RECRUITMENT Process of searching prospective

employees and inducing them to apply jobs in an Organization - Identification of being sources of applicants and developing them in making of new sources of application - Stimulating the candidates to apply for jobs in an Organization. - Striking a balance between internal source and external source.

 SELECTION  Process of determining the

qualifications, experiences, skills, knowledge of an applicant with a view to measuring her/his suitability to a job appraising.

PLACEMENT Allotting the selected candidate with

most suitable job in terms of requirements.

Employee Maintenance Is the administration and supervising

of workplace, health, safety and welfare policies to retain a effective workforce and follow with s legal standards and regulations.

HRM Functions and Activities

Relating and Understanding to employees as individuals, thus identifying individual needs and career goals.

Developing positive interactions between employees, to conferm collated and constructive enterprise productivity and development of a uniform organizational culture.
