HEALTH WORKHONOR ROLL

IN ESSEX CO.In the early part of October the

rural teachers were asked to formSchool Health Clubs following theplan outlined by the Medical In-spections Division of the StJateDepartment of Education.

The management of the club al-ways depends for its success orfailure on the ability of the teach-er to arouse and maintain inter-est. The pupils choose their ownofficers but each teacher must givedaily supervision and keep therecords. Particular .attention isgiven to these five points:

1. General cleanliness and neat-ness.

2. Head.3. Teeth.4. Hands.5. Nails.If a child is conspicuously dirty

or untidy the condition is noted bythe inspecting officer. When achild passes the inspection for fiveconsecutive days, his or her nameis added to the Honor Roll. Eachpupil who succeeds in keeping hisor her name on the Honor Rollduring the year receives a healthcertificate at the close of school.

Saranac Lake Chamber of Com-merce held an informal dinnermeeting at Adirondack-FloridaClub last evening. This is the be-ginning of a series of informaldinners planned by the SaranacLake organization to be held invarious resort centers. The ideais to familiarize the memberswith Adirondack resort conditionsgenerally and to create a spirit ofco-operation that will tend topromote the interests of the Adi-rondacks as a whole.

The plan is a splendid one andought to bring lasting results.The Lake Placid Chamber of Com-merce has made excellent progressby the informal dinner method andwhile confined to the hotels inPlacid, doubtless the Saranac Lakeplan of going elsewhere to meetwould prove a boon for the localorganization. Let's try it too!

SPEECHLESS FROM ACCIDENT

Henry Mace of Ausable Forkslost his power of speech for sev-eral hours when his Ford touringcar collided with a Cadillac near

eorge Rea's farm at Beekman-town. The Cadillac was drivenby Sergeant Follinsby, chauffeurfor Col. Lawton of Governors Is-land who was on official businessat the Post.

Mace was rushed to the Cham-plain Valley hospital where a cutover his left eye was treated. Hesustained a few minor bruises.It is reported that the Sergeantwas using the car for purposesother than official, and that Macedrove his Ford nearly into theditch in an attempt to avoid thecollision.

Mace's neck struck his steeringwheel, and this tog-ether with theshock is believed to have takenfor some time taken away hispower of speech.

Twomen, who were occupying thecamp, were arrested and convictedof taking the deer illegally. Theywere fined $100 each and confinedin the Herkimer county jail un-til the fines were paid. ProtectorFuller also while viewing the op-eration of trappers taking beaversaw two men in a remote sectionof the town of Ohio, Herkimercounty, return, to camp with adeef which they had killed. Theywere arrested and fined $75 tach.
