place that coordinates with the

park located south of the site.

s o l u t i o n : with the notions that the main dilemma of this project was to design a mar-

ket place that had a southern focus on the park, i felt that a stoa was the best choice

for this project. the stoa almost becomes an arrow pointing at the park located directly

south. i also incorporated skylights to rooms that need to be day lit but yet cannot

have direct sunlight because of the fresh produce.

with a heavy emphasis on

photomontage.

s o l u t i o n : for my park design i took the geometry of the sky lights on the roof of

my stoa in order to produce a pattern of planters and ponds that creates an order

to the park. one key aspect of the park is that it has a pond filtration system

which in the end creates an excellent feet cleansing pond.

courtyard or a cloister mar-

ketplace that created a space

that reflected the park.

s o l u t i o n : in order to create more interesting spaces i found that designing a cloister

market would be the best decision. i started with the general idea of having an indoor/

outdoor square of circulation hallway which surrounds the courtyard, and then moved to

design the outer four buildings that make up the cloister.

for an art gallery entirely

basing the project around the

golden rectangle and its pro-

portions.

s o l u t i o n : the main concept behind this particular facade design is that it is com-

pletely dynamic. the panels that initially make up the facade can move and create

interesting shadows for the customers walking into the gallery. the panels then in

the end open up to form different golden sections located randomly on the facade.

living quarters for the milwuaukee fire

department, and to also develop exhibition

spaces for a museum to the public.

s o l u t i o n : instead of thinking about this project in layers i decided that the way

to create the most interesting spaces was to take divide the public and private

spaces vertically rather that horizontally. so i took all of the private spaces and

placed them into an abstract boat shaped rendition along the north wall of the

interior.

p r o g r a m : design a new cafe/com-

munity center for lake park entirely

basing your design off of the ideas

of the current lake park designer:

Frederick Law Olmsted.

s o l u t i o n : instead of designing a large monumental object in the middle of the park i

decided to design a building by playing with the land and creating a valley-like court-

yard in the middle to provide day lighting. also by creating an extention of the park

gave way to new man-made possibilities for the roof such as two foot high solid trans-

lucent glass skylights that pose as benches and also interesting glowing blocks at

night.
