Making My Film Title

Font

I chose this font as it reminded me of blood dripping on a wall, my only problem was that although the style was relevant to my genre the colour of the text was not, therefore I decided I would try to make it red which is conventional of a murder mystery. I zoomed in so I could see the letters easier

I was unable to find a way to simply turn the text red, therefore I decided I would use the brush tool and simply paint on top of the font.

I used red as it was conventional of the murder mystery genre, this also represents blood, by using the brush tool it looked as if somebody had wrote it which is the effect I was trying to create.

Magazine

I resized the image as it was extremely small when I opened it.How I did it

I then added two smaller images as I had seen this done in another magazine meaning I was using conventions of a movie magazine front cover.

I made my magazine black and white as an intertextual reference to film noirs which are murder mysteries which are often shown in black and white, it took me a while to figure out how to do this I found I could click this button and it would make my image black and white.

I then added my magazine masthead as this is conventional, I made the logo relate to the medium that this magazine is about. I called my magazine BTS as it is a common abbreviation of behind the scenes which is what my magazine will focus on.

I then added my film title which I had already created.

I then added my articles making everything black and white

I received feedback from a fellow media student saying that the magazine does not stand out and would not catch her eyes, therefore I decided to challenge the conventions of film noir on which my magazine was based by adding the colour red to the titles of each articles so they would be the most eye-catching part

The top of my magazine looked bare so I decided to add a header to fill in the blank space, this also makes the magazine more appealing to an audience.

Poster

I made the image larger as it was small on the page.

I initially took the photo on location as I planned to have two actors looking at each other the way the actor in the photo is, since I could only get one actor to be there I decided I would remove the background and follow conventions of having a dark background, I removed it using the eraser tool and the magic eraser tool.

This is the image after I removed the background.

I placed a black rectangle as a separate layer underneath the image layer to create a dark background which is conventional of murder mystery posters.

I then added my film title which I had previously made as well as adding my actors names at the top, I know that it is conventional to have actors names at the top and on the posters I analysed it was common for the title to be near the bottom of the poster.

I added my tagline which is included within my trailer so I had continuity throughout the products, I added a production logo as this is conventional and I added a website for people to find out more information. Initially on my tagline I did not have a glow but after speaking to a fellow media student I decided to add the glow to make the text stand out, on my product the text is white but for some reason on this and the following slides it is grey.

From the same media student I also learnt my title does not stand out so I added a translucent rectangle to make the title stand out but so the image behind was still visible and so the box didn’t stand out too much.

I added star ratings to make my poster appeal to more people as they are likely to see a four star film as they know it will be good.
