THE WORKSHOP WHAT THE DYEING & PRINTING WORKSHOP IS ABOUT:

•Learning concepts (some theory...just a bit)

•Learning & experimenting DYEING techniques

•Learning & experimenting PRINTING techniques

•Use and implementation of the techniques through a Costume Design project

•You are in charge of the costume design for a play (theater, dance,childrenplay…)andhavetoproject4-6outfitsforthemaincharacters.

•The background/spirit of the play is «Mediterranean Sea»

•TheworkisaboutFABRICS,notshapes,fits,volumes.Youmustfindyourlanguage/stylethroughthematerialsyouuse.

SO, WE’VE bEEN TYING...

...AND WE’VE bEEN PRINTING.

AND AS SOON AS WE’VE bEEN IN TOTAL CONTROL

OF OUR TECHNIQUES, WE’VE bEEN THINKING, CREATING, PLANNING AND PROJECTING THE OUTFITS FOR A PLAY,

A HISTORY, A TALE AbOUT THE

mediterranean sea

MUCH TO OUR SURPRISEMuch to our surprise, the concept of Mediterranean Sea was pretty different from one person to another.

For example Mona, from Iran, had an idea of the mediterranean sea as a sort of a quiet tropical lagoon, with turquoise and light blue as main colours.

SarafromColombia,ontheotherhand,usedtotheinfinitecaribbeanshores, imagined the mediterranean as a closed, deep, dark, dangerous, almost claustrophobic sea.

And so on.

With such visions, the costumes, designs, pattern and colours used in the projects had necessarly to be very personal and unique.

And so it was.
