SPRING/SUMMER 2014

SAILOR

COTON

COTTON

Back when sailboats were used for transporting freight and fishing, their sails were thick andhardwearing. The white sails we know were

only introduced later by style conscious yachtsmen.

WORKER

JEAN

DENIM

Indigo-coloured cotton twill fabric, with a natural blue pigment. Originally used by gold diggers as canvas for tents, a prospector had the idea

of making pants out of the sturdy fabric. The newly created blue jeans were then adopted

by workers during the time of the Industrial Revolution.

FISHERMAN

LIN

LINEN

The natural plant fibre has been used by fishermen since the Stone Age to make fishing nets.
