Oklahoma was made by Richards Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II.

Oklahoma opened at the St. James Theatre on March 31st, 1943 and ran for 2,212 performance.

It was then transformed into a movie in 1955.

The Sound of Music, set in 1938, was created by Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II – who passed away nine months after the opening.

The sound of music opened at Lunt-Fontanne Theatre on November 15, 1959 – eventually becoming the second longest running Broadway musical of the Fifties. It was later turned into a movie in 1965, starring Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer.

West Side Story was a book then turned into a musical. It has the plot of Romeo and Juliet. It was set in the mid 1950’s, exploring the rivals of two gangs.

It was released on 1957, running for 732 performances before going on tour.

It won a Tony Award for the choreography.
