SHOCK

Hypovolemic - Low volume

Cardiogenic - Broken pump (heart)

Septic - Immune response interferes with vascular tone

The goal of the Cardiovascular System is to deliver O2 to the body.Shock is a state of vital organs not receiving adequate O2.

3 Main Types of Shock

Normal Oxygen Delivery System

HypovolemicInitial Insuit = Low Blood Volume

With each type of shock, a different portion of the O2 delivery system is affected:

Class I: 500-750 ml loss

Class II: 750-1500 ml loss

Hypovolemic Shock Stages:

Class III: 1500-2000 ml loss

Class IV: >2000 ml

Initial Insult = Immune response initiates massive systemic vasodilation
