Most Loving God, Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish and Our Lady Help of Christians Parish are composed of people like
me. I help make my parish what it is. It will be friendly, if I am. Its pews will be filled, if I help fill them. It will do
great work, if I work. It will make generous gifts to many causes, if I am a generous giver. It will bring
other people to love and serve You, if I invite and bring them. It will be a parish of loyalty and love, of fearlessness
and faith, and a parish with a noble spirit, if I, who know that I belong, am filled with these same gifts. Therefore,
with Your help, Gracious God, I shall dedicate myself to the task of being all of the things that I want my parish to
be. Amen.

Father’s Corner
I had a great time visiting with my family, relatives and friends back home. The
excitement of seeing my mum, brothers and sisters, nephews and nieces, and neighbors helped me deal with the long and boring 17
hours flight to Uganda.
We celebrated the 25th Anniversary of my
ordination on Friday, May 25, 2018. It was in my home village. The Mass was celebrated outside with tarpaulins providing shades for
the very many people who turned up – remember that I am related to more than a
thousand people who do not need invitations to show up. We had lunch together, entertainments, traditional and other dances.
The celebrations lasted till Saturday afternoon.
Is it hard to leave home? A week before I
was to travel I told my mum that my time at home was up and her reply was, “I asked the
girls to grind some coffee for you because I knew that your time is almost up to go back.”
I think the formation to religious life has worked both ways: for me and for my family too.
It is great to be back: another reason to say:
God Is Good!!! All The Time!!! All The Time!!! God Is Good!!!

Religious Ed Catechists Needed
We are blessed with some new volunteers,
but we are still in need of teachers for third
grade and eighth grade. Our catechists must
be Catholics in good standing with the church
and are expected to fulfill their Sunday
liturgical obligations and to otherwise
participate in the life of their Catholic faith
community. Please prayerfully consider if
this is something that God is asking you to
do. If you are interested in volunteering,
contact Nora at the parish office (717-453-
7895) or at home (717-453-8207).
Thirteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time
Rich in love
Reading I Wisdom 1:13-15; 2:23-24 (God’s
justice and its rejection by the wicked)
Reading II 2 Corinthians 8:7, 9, 13-15
(liberal giving)
Gospel Mark 5:21-43 (the daughter of
Jairus; the woman with a hemorrhage)
Key Passage For you know the generous
act of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he
was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor,
so that by his poverty you might become
rich. (2 Corinthians 8:9)
Adult - When have you felt enriched by a
sacrifice you made for another?
Child - Whom could you help by your acts of
kindness this week?
The Rosary at Sacred Heart will be prayed the 1st & 3rd Thursdays of the
month through the summer months. The dates are July 5 & 19 and August 2 & 16.
On the 3rd Thursday Deacon George will have Exposition & Benediction of
the Blessed Sacrament. In September we will resume praying the Rosary
weekly.
Farmers Market Vouchers- Residents of
Dauphin County, 60yrs and older, can get a
$20 Farmers Market Voucher to purchase
Pennsylvania grown produce. The vouchers
are available on a first come first serve basis
at the Northern Dauphin Human Services
Center across from Wal-Mart. You will need
to show a photo ID.
Please call 717-905-2700 for availability.
Deacon’s Place Reason #4 for going to Mass: God has a
special message for us. When we listen to the
Readings, the Homily, and the Prayers of the
Mass, God speaks directly to us in a special
way. We should come away from each Mass
with at least one inspiration that will impact
our lives in some way. We just have to pay
attention and be open to what Our Blessed
Lord is trying to tell us. The Mass gives us
many opportunities to look within ourselves
and be honest with ourselves.
Have I been the follower of Christ that I
should be, or am I a Sunday only type of
follower. During the week do I care about
others or just about myself and my own
personal satisfaction? Do I really care about
others and their problems? Do I try my best
to help others to the extent of my resources
and ability? A true Christian is not selfish and
egotistic. A true Christian loves and builds up
the Church and others around them. None of
us are perfect, but we are to strive to be
prefect as Our Heavenly Father is perfect!
Until next week have a good and Holy week!
God Bless,
Deacon George +

Our Lady and Sacred Heart Parishioners
In keeping with Father Mike’s plan to make our Parishes grow stronger, he suggested at the last
Parish Council Meeting that he would like to form sub-committees to help with various aspects of
Parish activities.
Please pray about this and consider volunteering to serve on one or more of the following sub-
committees:
Evangelization:
Religious Education and RCIA Teachers. There is no greater way to hand on our faith than to
share your own faith with our youth, and to adults who desire to become Catholic. Training is
available through the Diocese of Harrisburg for each of these positions.
Liturgical Ministries:
Lectors- (which we desperately need)
Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion- (also badly needed)
Choir
Church Cleaners- Currently someone comes in on a Friday and vacuums and cleans the floors,
and the windows on the doors and various other cleaning duties. We would like to have a
committee that can come in once a month and do a more thorough cleaning. Remember that
many hands lighten the load, so the more people we have the less time it will take to accomplish
this.
Sacristans- to help set up before Mass and clean up after.
Grounds and Maintenance Committee:
A few people who can walk around the property on a regular basis to see if there is anything
that looks like it needs to be repaired/replaced or if there are other building issues that need to
be addressed. This committee would then meet to discuss what needs to be done and make
suggestions on how to cover the cost. These would then be presented to the Finance Council.
Fundraising Committee:
This committee would come up with some additional fundraising ideas. Up until now, the
fundraising that has been done in Sacred Heart Parish is by the Ladies Council of Catholic
Women. These wonderful and generous ladies have put in many hours of hard work to keep the
church doors open, but they are getting tired. We need to have an additional group that will
step in and lighten the load for the ladies and still maintain the level of fund- raising that has
been done in the past. Maybe someone has some new ideas.
Please look into your hearts and pray about this. We are trying very hard to make our Parishes
grow in the right direction. We have a Pastor who is very committed to helping us do just that.
If you are interested in helping, please fill in the form below and return it in the collection
basket.
