Subject: Prescribed literature for the November 2020 and June 2021 Grade 12

examinations

1. The Department of Basic Education (DBE) issued Circular E6 of 2020 (attached as

Annexure A), relating to the prescribed literature texts for study for all official languages

at Home, First and Second Additional levels for the Grade 12 examinations to be written

in November 2020 and June 2021.

2. The Grade 12 literature question papers for all official languages for the November 2020

and June 2021 examinations will be based on the literature that is prescribed for the

November 2019 and June 2020 examinations.

3. Therefore, it must be noted that the list of prescribed literature for the November 2020

and June 2021 examinations are the same as per DBE Circular E39 of 09 December 2016

(attached as Annexure B) and DBE Circular E19 of 03 August 2018 (attached as

Annexure C).

4. Please bring the content of this minute to the attention of all institutions and candidates

that offer the November 2020 and June 2021 National Senior Certificate Grade 12

examinations.

1. Die Departement van Basiese Onderwys (DBO) het Omsendbrief E6 van 2020

(aangeheg as Bylae A) uitgereik oor die voorgeskrewe letterkundetekste vir

studiewerk vir alle amptelike tale op huistaal-, eerste addisionele taal- en tweede

addisionele taalvlakke vir die graad 12-eksamen wat in November 2020 en Junie 2021

geskryf sal word.

2. Die graad 12-letterkundevraestelle vir alle amptelike tale vir die November 2020- en

Junie 2021-eksamen sal gebaseer wees op die letterkunde wat vir die November

2019- en Junie 2020-eksamen voorgeskryf is.

3. Om dié rede moet daar kennis geneem word dat die lys met voorgeskrewe

letterkunde vir die November 2020- en Junie 2021-eksamen dieselfde is, soos

uiteengesit in DBO Omsendbrief E39 van 09 Desember 2016 (aangeheg as Bylae B)

en DBO Omsendbrief E19 van 03 Augustus 2018 (aangeheg as Bylae C).

4. Bring asseblief die inhoud van hierdie minuut onder die aandag van alle inrigtings en

kandidate wat die November 2020- en Junie 2021- Nasionale Senior Sertifikaat-

eksamen aanbied.

CIRCULAR E6 OF 2020

PRESCRIBED LITERATURE: NOVEMBER 2020 AND JUNE 2021 GRADE 12 EXAMINATIONS

1. This Circular relates to the prescribed literature for all official languages for the November 2020

and June 2021 Grade 12 Examinations.

2. The Grade 12 literature question papers for all official languages (Paper 2) for the November

2020 and June 2021 Grade 12 Examinations will be based on the literature that is prescribed

for the November 2019 and June 2020 examinations. Therefore, this serves as a reminder

that the list of prescribed literature for the November 2020 and the June 2021 examinations

are the same as per Circular E39 of 2016 and Circular E19 of 2018.

3. Provincial Education Departments (PEDs) are requested to bring this Circular to the attention

of the schools, centres and candidates that offer the November 2020 and the June 2021 Grade

12 examinations.

4. For ease of reference, Circular E19 of 2018 is attached.
