Closed or Semi-Closed Greenhouse Essentials

Closed/Semi-Closed Design allows for zero (wintertime) to minimal outside air exchange year round to:i. Reduce Disease Pressureii. Reduce Energy Consumptioniii. Conserve CO2 iv. Circulate and recover all heat rejected from grow

lightsv. Preserve and improve the micro-climate around leaves

through improved internal circulation and mixing.

REMASCO Greenhouse Why is it Different and Better?

It is the Right Size

A 2ooft long REMASCO greenhouse will produce over 100tonnes/yr of tomatoes or 30-40tonnes/yr of strawberries. All produce processing/packaging will occur on site.

It will generate over $500K/yr in revenues, over half of which will remain within the community in the form of jobs and locally incurred expenses.

REMASCO Greenhouse Why is it Different and Better?

The REMASCO greenhouse only incorporates well proven technology!

REMASCO Greenhouse Why is it Different and Better?

1.) It is only 82ft Wide X ~250ft long but modular. The arched design easily accommodates high snow and wind loadings.

REMASCO Greenhouse Why is it Different and Better?

2.) It only requires 300kW of electricity for lit production.

REMASCO Greenhouse Why is it Different and Better?

3.) It has less than half the exposed roof area than an equivalently sized, modern glass greenhouse:

a.) Despite the reduced roof area it captures no less natural sunlight.

b.) Requires less than half the energy to heat.

REMASCO Greenhouse Why is it Different and Better?

4.) It uses low-energy, forced draft ventilation to minimize makeup air and CO2 loss all year round.

REMASCO Greenhouse Why is it Different and Better?

5.) It doubles planting density by reducing spacing between the rows by eliminating need for worker access and heating rails.

REMASCO Greenhouse Why is it Different and Better?

6.) The heating rails are used to structurally support each row.

REMASCO Greenhouse Why is it Different and Better?

7.) The REMASCO greenhouse incorporates both, radiant and convective heating.

REMASCO Greenhouse Why is it Different and Better?

8.) Energy curtains to be drawn down the south face at night or during cloudy periods to reduce energy consumption even further.

REMASCO Greenhouse Why is it Different and Better?

9.) The REMASCO greenhouse incorporates both, evaporative and liquid desiccant cooling/dehumidification. Liquid desiccant cooling allows latent heat to be recovered from humidity in the air to further reduce heat loss, especially during wintertime operation.

REMASCO Greenhouse Why is it Different and Better?

10.) All systems within the REMASCO greenhouse are able to be remotely monitored to provide guidance, support and training to local employees 24/7, 365 days/yr.

REMASCO Greenhouse Why is it Different and Better?

11.) The training and support received by the local employees can be better utilized by the community by implementing district heating and community water treatment.

Small-Scale High Intensity Agriculture

Can provide a non-imposing, sustainable and community-beneficial opportunity to create a wide variety of full-time and part time jobs.

Can improve food security in the north in an economic and socially sustainable manner.

Windsor vs Sandy Lake Supplemental Lighting Requirements

Latitude vs Heating Load

Hydrothermal Carbonization Process Advantages

HTC processes low quality biomass into a consistent, high quality fuel.

HTC allows the use of simpler, less expensive boilers.
