Dear parents, carers and friends of our school,

2015 Presenta on Day – Tuesday 8 December This special event is a celebra on of our students learning and achievements in 2015. We are looking forward to welcoming many special guests, parents and friends to these special assemblies. The venue is our school hall with Kindergarten – Year 2 Presenta on Day beginning at 9.30am and Years 3 – 6 Presenta on Day being celebrated from 11.15am. Morning Tea will be provided for our special guests in between the two assemblies. Planning for 2016 We have begun the forma on and alloca on of classes for 2016. The classes are structured in a way that best meets the needs of students and teachers and are formed by staff and ra fied by myself a er discussion with the execu ve.
The following criteria are used to ensure that the classes that are formed are in the best interests of ALL the students. These criteria are not in order of importance and include:
Friendships ‐ students who need support from
another close friend.
Friendships ‐ students who are too friendly with
another student and are best separated so both
students can concentrate on their studies.
Behaviour problems ‐ students who are best
separated so their learning and the learning of other students is not affected.
Special Needs ‐ these may be social, intellectual,
emo onal or physical.
Cultural Balance ‐ each class is formed to have a
range of na onali es and cultures.
Personali es ‐ in some special cases the
personali es of both teachers and students are considered before a decision is made regarding the placement of a student.
Gender Balance ‐ we also like to keep a balance
of boys and girls in each class.
Considera on is given to whether a teacher and student have been together before.
As well as the above criteria, all classes will be formed to be academically and socially balanced. Parent requests are also taken into considera on. This cannot always be accommodated but is important to us.
Star ng the school year – 2016
The school year starts on Wednesday 27 January with our Staff Development Day. Students in Years 1 – 6 start school on Thursday 28 January. Kindergarten will be mee ng the Kinder teachers to complete Best Start Assessments on Thursday, Friday and the following Monday. Kindergarten students will have their first day at school on Tuesday 2 February.
Year 1 – 6 students will start the year in their 2015 classes so that we are able to make adjustments to the class forma ons to include new students and any students that may not return a er the holidays.

P&C Fun Run
We will be holding an adidas School Fun Run as a major fundraising event
this year. The event will be held on Tuesday, 29 July within the school grounds.
The adidas School Fun Run is a healthy, fun and active fundraiser that en-
sures we send the right message to our students about getting active, having fun and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. The main focus of this
event is on participation. Family support is most appreciated as we en-courage all students to get involved.
All students will receive a Sponsorship Form today, to help collect spon-
sorship on behalf of the school. The funds raised will be used to pur-chase new play equipment for the Early Stage 1 playground.
We ask all parents to read the Sponsorship form and sign the front page
to grant permission for their child to fundraise and participate in this event. Students who raise just $10 or more will receive a reward for their effort. In the
Sponsorship form you will also find many other benefits like the chance to win a family holiday to Disneyland! Students wanting to track their progress and use online fundraising, can do so by logging onto schoolfun-
