Internal Organizational Identity

How do you define an organizations identity?

Determined by the established history and the values instilled within members.

Value is the most important piece.

Your internal identity should empower you.

Constitution is the backbone of every organization.

It’s a ripple effect with your general members.

External Organizational Identity

What do people say about your organization?

What type of professional influence do you want to have in the college?

What type of influence do you want to have on students?

Your reputation as seen by others may be different than how you view yourselves.

There needs to be consistency.

Competition With Organizations

How do you differentiate yourself?

What’s your brand and how do you market it?

Events can have a huge impact on competition.

Events show who you are, what you represent, and what you bring to the college.

Consistent, high quality events will make you stand out.

Events are how everyone sees you.

Competition for Members

Recruitment is always a struggle for organizations.

What can you offer?

How do you show them value in joining your organization?

What do you do to create a buy-in?

As incoming professional students they want something worth their time.

Don’t overpromise and sell yourself as something you are not.

First Activity

Idenititree

Break up into groups of 2 or 3.

You are going to ‘create’ an organization based upon an identity.

The image of the tree shows each part of the whole.

It’s up to you as leaders of the organization to create that identity.
