Why Resilience?• Almost 50% of USA workers suffer from burnout - stress on the job.

• 50% of 550,000,000 workdays lost annually because of absenteeism/stress– 3-yr study - 60% of absenteeism due to psychological problems - stress.

• more than 2x (1985 to 1990) - reported "feeling highly stressed“

• Job stress est cost US $300 billion annually, – absenteeism, diminished productivity, staff turnover, medical, legal & insurance fees – 60-80% of industrial accidents are due to stress.

• 9/10 job stress law suits are successful

• 1995 - Stress mngt $9.4 billion, 1999 $11.31 billion, 2006 $16 billion+

• 40% of worker turnover is due to job stress

• Workplace violence. Almost 2 million homicide, aggravated assault, rape or sexual assaults.
