Finding Genre Titles in NoveList Plus

LIBRA 1105 – Readers’ Advisory

Start at the Library’s homepage: cod.edu/library

Click “Databases”

On the Library Databases page, click the “Databases By Title” tab

Scroll down through this alphabetical list until you find “N”

Click the link for “Novelist Plus”

You will need your COD Library card to access databases from off-campus

Enter your barcode number

and click “Submit”

To find genre titles in NoveList, use the “Search For” box

Enter the title of the benchmark genre

book and click “Search”

You can find read-alikes from this screen, but let’s try a more general search

Instead of clicking Read-alikes, click the title of the book

There are some read-alikes listed on the right; scroll down to see more options

Use the “Search for More” options to find more books in this genre

Don’t pick too many options!

You want a book from the genre, but not a read-alike

NoveList gives you plenty of suggestions-- feel free to narrow your results!
