• Volcanoes are very dangerous .They can

give out toxic fumes which are poisonous. If you fall in to a volcano you might as well be dead, well you wouldn’t have to because you’d already be dead!

The Pompeii Eruption

• In 79ad, in a city called Pompeii, a volcano called Mount Vesuvius erupted covering Pompeii and a city called Herculaneum!

When did it happen?

• It happened on 24th of August 79ad at midday.

How does a volcano form?

• A volcano forms when two plates crash into one another and they can’t escape, and the only way left, is to go up. This is how a volcano forms.

Facts

• A very unusual eruption is called a Plinian eruption, and it has no lava at all!

• The Plinian eruption is named after the person who saved some people from Pompeii.

• The Plinian eruption was the type of eruption in Pompeii.
