♣The very first St. Patrick's
Day parade was not in Ire-
land. It was in Boston in
1737.
♣The city of Chicago cele-
brates St. Patrick’s Day by

Prom is right around the cor-

sues I will be talking about prom!
If you’re the type of girl that
needs a dress that goes along with
this years trends then definitely
buy one that has floral. Floral two
piece dresses are very popular
right now and if you get the right
pattern, you’re sure to stand out!
S e v e n t e e n
magazine states
that pastel col-
ors are in for
this year! So if
you’re going to
be going with
the trend, get a
pastel, floral
two piece dress.

It Cost 1.5 cents to Make a penny
Last Year
Last year, each penny cost 1.5
cents to make, about 50 percent
more than its face value. All the
pennies the U.S. Mint issued last
year cost $46 million.
This is the 11th year the cost
to make a penny has been higher
than its face value. Nickels, too,
cost more
than their
value to
make at 6.32
cents for
each five-

last year. At
least the Mint makes a profit on

Three New Species of Bird
eating Tarantulas discovered
Three new species of massive
tarantulas have been discovered in
the category of being “Bird-
Eaters”.
Researchers basically cleaned
the house of the Avicularia fam-
ily, aka the bird eating spider
family. While doing this they
sorted through the family of fifty
and narrowed it down to twelve,
three of which were new species
to the family.
Their name bird eater was
once thought to be a fantasy even
though we know it to be true, as a
member of the family the Goliath
Bird Eater has fangs which can
easily pierce the skull of a rodent
or bird. http://www.livescience.com/58187-bird-

I know most people in the world would probably choose a place like
Mexico or Florida to go exploring on vacation around this time of year.
However, for me personally,
I would like to go to Mani-
toba or Ontario for the un-
forgettable fishing and hunt-
ing opportunities with so
many large fish to catch and
so many large bucks to
shoot.
This is why I would
personally explore Mani-
toba or Ontario as a vaca-
tion destination. I hope that you readers would too if you’re an outdoors
type of person.

Reporter In Heels Just Ran The
Most Impressive 40 At NFL
Combine
Tori Petry, a reporter in Detroit
Lakes, ran a 40 yard dash at the
NFL scouting Combine in 5.98
seconds in heels. Her time doesn't
beat the new record of 4.22 sec-
onds, but it is pretty good with
what kind of shoes she was wear-
ing. According to For The Win,
Petry beat the time of 2011 par-
ticipant Isaiah Thompson, who
clocked 6.06 seconds.

In Alaska Local Hockey Teams
Are Taking A Toll
Life in Alaska has changed
dramatically since oil revenues
took a dive. It affects nearly eve-
rything in the state – including
leisure dollars – and its hockey
teams are folding as a result. On
Feb. 23, the ECHL’s Alaska Aces
announced they were ceasing
operations. The Aces, who won
three Kelly Cup championships
(the last in 2013-14), had been a
mainstay in Anchorage for years
and even featured native son and
former New Jersey Devils star
Scott Gomez
during the
past two NHL
lockouts.
What would possess a person
to spend days or years waiting for
a chance to spear a fish?
If you asked some of the
nearly 13,000 people on the ice of
Wisconsin’s Lake Winnebago on
opening day of the 2017 lake
sturgeon spearing season, you’d
get a lot of different answers.
Although, the main thing is to tag
one of the largest fish in North
America.
The Wild are still 1st in the
Western Conference but the Chi-
cago Blackhawks are just 1 point
behind as of 3/13/17.
If the Wild finish first in the
Central Division they will play the
second placed wildcard team in
the West and if they finish second
in the Central they will play the
third placed team in the Central
Division.
The Central Division stand-
ings are:
1. Wild 92 pts 2. Chicago 91 pts
3. Nashville 77 pts 4. Blues 75 pts
5. Jets 66 pts 6. Stars 64 pts
7. Avalanche 41 pts

Natchez, Mississippi where he got
his reputation after using his knife

This issue I will be reviewing
Applebee's! Applebee's is located
in Fergus Falls, Minnesota which
is about 25 minutes away from
Ashby, so boys this is a good
place to eat for prom!
Applebee's has a great variety
of food including pastas, seafood,
burgers, sandwiches, and they
have a great selection of appetiz-
ers and snacks!
If you’re looking for a great
deal you and your date can pick
off of the 2 for $20 menu which
includes an appetizer, your choice
of salad, mozzarella sticks, onion
rings, spinach dip or boneless
wings. The entrée menu for the 2
for $20 is great and includes dif-
ferently cooked chicken, a juicy
American burger, or Applebee
riblets.
A couple of my fellow class-
mates say that their favorite meals
are the chicken strip basket, four
cheese mac & cheese, and the
pretzel sticks with beer cheese.
They also have delicious refresh-
ers including a variety of lemon-
ades and teas! Make sure you stop
in for prom or any other time!
The 2017 Mazda MX-5 Miata
has a starting price ranging from
$24,915 to $31,270 with 3 con-
figurations Sport, Club, and
Grand Touring with manual or
automatic.
This new Mazda has 155
horsepower with 26 city and 33
highway miles per gallon.
The Fray is an American rock
band from Denver, Colorado.
They formed in 2002 by school-
mates Isaac Slade and Jo King.
They started off helping lead wor-
ship in their churches, and soon
became known all around. If you
are looking for a band with a lot
of heart, this is it.
They achieved great success
in 2005 for their album, How To
Save A Life. This album was certi-
fied as a double platinum. They
got their national success from
their first single Over My Head
(Cable Car). The creation of their
second single How To Save A
Life, brought the band worldwide
fame.
In the Night World series
there are 9 book so far and since I
had previously written a review
about the first 3 books I thought
that I would also do one for the
second 3 books. The second 3
books are Dark Angel, The Cho-
sen, and Soulmate.
The first of the 3 is not my
favorite because of how slow it is
compared to the other books. It
starts out with Gillian having a
near death experience where
when she is returned back to her
body she is accompanied by an
angel. He ends up helping her get
the popularity that she has always
wanted, but after a while he starts
making these weird demands
from her so she no longer knows
whether he is good or not.
The second is The Chosen and
is about a vampire hunter that no
one has ever learned the name of.
They know her by The Cat. She
had taken up vampire hunting
because when she was 5 she saw
her mom killed by a vampire
named Hunter Redfern. One day
she ended up hunting a vampire
that was selling humans. His
name is Quinn. Those 2 end up
working together to take Hunter
Redfern down.
The third book is Soulmate
and it is about a girl named Han-
nah Snow. She is an old soul
which means that her soul has
been reborn many times but each
time Hannah always dies before
the age of 17. Now she is trying to
stop that from happening again.
The Night World books are
really quick reads. You might like
to read them for your pages in
Ms. Wojik’s class. These 3 books
from the Night World series are
rated a 4.2 stars on the Goodreads
site and are available in our
school library. Check them out! https: / /www. goodreads .com/ht tps: / /

Snake is the common name
for a videogame concept where
the player maneuvers a line which
grows in length with the line itself
being a main obstacle.
“Horizon: Zero Dawn”
The plot revolves around
Aloy, a hunter and archer living in
a world overrun by robots. Having
been outcast her whole life, she
sets out to discover the dangers
that kept her sheltered.
T h e c h a r a c t e r u s e s

ons and stealth tactics to fight the
mechanized creatures, whose
remains can also be looted for
resources.
Development of this game
began in 2011, with game director
Mathijs de Jonge considering it
"the most risky" idea of those that
were pitched at the time. The
concept explores the contrast
between the beauty and danger of
the game's setting.
Last year ABC dropped the
TV show “Nashville” from its line
up stating that it had low ratings.
The fans rebelled so CMT picked
up the series this year. Now the
show is getting rave reviews and
has just celebrated its 100th epi-
sode.
If you like country music, this
is the program for you as there are
a lot of good, original country
music songs performed in this
show. It’s on CMP on Thursday
nights at 8:00 p.m.
The story revolves around a
group of country music stars,
recording studios, concert tours,
and their private lives in Nash-
ville.
This season saw the death of
the main character Rayna James a
famous country singer. The mid-
season finale was on last week, so
you will have to wait about 3
months for the season to resume.
The El Camino was first intro-
duced in 1959 and was in produc-
tion until 1987. It was one of the
first Sedan/Utility vehicles pro-
duced.
It was built on the impala
chassis and had almost the same
body style but offered a full sized
bed and towing hitch. It was very
successful. Pictured above is a
