It is a great pleasure for me to welcome all of you tothe 2nd ICGEB Workshop on “Human papillomavirus:From Basic Biology to Cancer Prevention”, which isco-organized by the Department of Microbiology,Faculty of Medicine, The Chinese University of HongKong, in conjunction with the International Centrefor Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB).

This three-day workshop is to serve as a platform forpreclinical and clinical scientists, academia andhealthcare professionals to share knowledge and todiscuss future research opportunities on topicalissues of HPV, ranging from cancer development,detection, epidemiology, prevention to evolution.

On behalf of the Faculty and the Organizing Committee, I would like to convey ourdeep gratitude to the panel of pioneer HPV leaders coming from Asia, Europe, UKand US, as well as to local experts in Hong Kong for sharing their valuable insightsand expertise. I would like to also welcome our participants coming from 14countries. Your contributions of ideas and thoughts on HPV will enrich thedeliberations.
