• Games can teach cooking, fine and gross motor, problem-solving, social, fitness and life skills.

• Wii play earned as part of token economy—students cash-in to play Wii with classroom dollars earned

• Independent activity during small group instruction or center-based learning

• Students LOVE the Wii and are actively engaged in learning.

Goals/Objectives for Today…• Identify and use terminology related to the Nintendo Wii.• Understand how to set up the Wii and how the Wii menu

works using the internet.• Learn how to use a Wii and practice through the use of

educational games.• Evaluate Wii games and determine their effectiveness

into existing curricula.• Develop ideas on how to use the Wii in class activities.• Plan, develop, and create a lesson using the Nintendo

Wii.• Demonstrate through modeling/discussion the

integration of the Wii into their curricular instruction.

A Wii is born

The idea of the Wii console was thought up during the time of the GameCube release in 2001. The Wii was first released in Japan on September 14, 2006.

• Your group will design a lesson plan from one of the selected software titles.

• You can’t use a title that has already been chosen or demonstrated.

• Each group will have the following: recorder, 2 presenters, timekeeper, and a materials keeper.

• Each group will be responsible for demonstrating their lesson with the Wii console.

• Relax and have fun!
