Dear colleagues,
Next ITRE meeting will kick off withvotes on proposals for regulationswith great importance to industryon the labelling of tyres withrespect to fuel efficiency and onestablishing the EuropeanCybersecurity Industrial,Technology and ResearchCompetence Centre. Furthermore,following lively debate during theconsideration of the draft opinion,ITRE will be adopting its positionabout discontinuing seasonalchanges of time, a topic that willaffect every single citizen livingwithin our borders. MEPs will alsovote on the provisional agreementreached with Council on Re-use ofpublic information and on an oralquestion with resolution on the EU’s long-term vision for aprosperous, modern, competitiveand climate neutral economy. Inthis line, a workshop on the role ofhydrogen in EU’s energy transitionwith the example of Germany willclose the morning session.
In the afternoon, ITRE will hold aPublic Hearing on “Connectivity ofthe digital future”. It will also hearthe Commission present a draftdelegated act on renewableenergy and will get feedback fromseveral ongoing inter-institutionalnegotiations.

Just energy transition, opportunity for EU industries.
The role of hydrogen in the future - The example of energy transition in
Germany
The workshop should address thepotential offered by the energytransition to transform EUconventional industrial processesand preserve employment. Itshould also explore the role of
hydrogen in opening new windows of opportunity in energy flexibility, availability, security, aswell as improved efficiency contributing to the decarbonisation of the economy. The case ofenergy transition in phasing out coal from the electricity generation sector in Germany shouldbe taken into account.More info

Connectivity of the digital future
On 19th of February, from 14:30 to17:00, two panels will shed light onthe complex issues of fifthgeneration wireless mobilestandard (5G), taking on board theexperience gathered from ongoing5G trials across the EuropeanUnion. The hearing will alsoaddress the question on howdifferent technologies, such asubiquitous sensors, small cells,space technologies and artificialintelligence applications combine tocreate new services and to significantly enhance the user experience for communications,applications, digital content and e-commerce. The hearing will also tackle the issue of barriersand difficulties in 5G rollout within the scope of latest EUs regulatory framework. Finally, thehearing will allow understanding how 5G, as enabler of very highspeed connectivity, canunlock the world of AI.More info
