FIRE ENGINEERING AND SAFETY PLAN

A ddressable Fire Detec-

tion System - Developed through worldwide, on-site ex-

perience—the addressable alarm range enables system designers

and installers to achieve exact

alarm management and evacua-tion procedures in any type of

building. Comprehensive range of advanced addressable sound-

ers, designed for use in ana-logue fire detection and alarm systems. In-

stalled directly onto the loop wiring, Sounders,

in conjunction with the range of Ziton sensors, provide a true two wire system—offering full

analogue addressable features on a single pair of wires. Installation costs are greatly reduced,

ADDRESSABLE FIRE DECTECTION SYSTEM


C onventional panel range

represents excellent value for either new or

refurbished installations where conventional, cost effective

equipment is specified. It is ap-

proved by several certification bodies including the Loss Preven-

tion Certification Board (LPCB) and is ideal for systems designed

to meet a variety of local codes. The conventional detectors aes-

thetic design and proven stability

in air movements associated with air conditioning systems, have

made it an ideal selection for modern building interiors.

CONVENTIONAL FIRE DECTECTION SYSTEM

The call point is of modern stylish design, pro-

viding a manual means of initiating a fire alarm on ZC conventional systems. The Fire Sounders

provide high sound output at a low current, thus reducing power requirements and system

cost. The AS364 sounder is supplied with a

volume control as standard, allowing final au-dio adjustments to be made during installation.

The internal bell designed as an acoustic fire annunciator. Its small dimensions and overall

design is ideal for in-door installation. It uses a 24 VDC supply and with the advantage of having very low current consumption, makes them

compatible with most fire alarm systems on the market.

COUPLINGS AND FITTINGS

“AE” delivery hose instanta-

neous couplings are manu-

factured in accordance with

BS336:1985 standard. The

couplings are produced in

LG2 gunmetal or BS1490

aluminium alloy materials.

Other types of couplings and

adaptors are also manufac-

tured in accordance to cus-

tomer’s requirement.

The Fire Couplings &

Fittings category in-

cludes instantaneous

couplings, stand-

pipes, branch pipes

and nozzles. Instan-

taneous couplings are

aluminium quick con-

nect couplings for

water, which are used

on fire fighting equip-

ment, wash down and

d r i nk i ng wa te r .

Standpipes are avail-

able with either a sin-

gle swivel plug or a

double swivel plug in

head with check valve. Contractors standpipes come complete

with tap and check valve. Branch pipes are available in stan-

dard aluminium, lever controlled or a diffuser type.

Couplings are the aluminium or brass ends connected to hose and threads are the grooves in or on the couplings that make connecting a hose to a water source or to another hose possible. The male coupling has threads on the outside and the female coupling has threads on the inside. Anodized hard coated alu-minium couplings are common for most fire fighting, industrial and other uses today. When compared to brass, aluminium is less likely to cross thread as it is a harder metal, is lighter weight and more economi-cal. Brass is still used where corro-sion is an issue, especially in a salt-water environment.

Higbee: This is the short flat

triangular fade at the tip of a

male NST/NH thread, as op-

posed to a thin thread begin-

ning on NPT, that allows at-

taching a fire hose coupling

quickly to another coupling or

to the water supply outlet

without jamming via cross-

threading. There is typically a

notch on one of the male and

female coupling rocker lugs

to locate the "Higbee", called

a "Higbee Cut" (see pic). Line these notches up to make join-

ing two lengths of hose quick and easy. NFPA 1963 requires a

Higbee on NH thread. Please see photo at the bottom of this

page for an example.

DRY RISER / WET RISER VALVES

“AE” 2-Way and 4-Way type

breeching inlets are designed,

constructed and manufactured in ac-

cordance with BS 5041: Part 3: 1975.

The materials used in the manufacture

of the breeching inlets are conformity

to the standard’s requirement. The

body is casted from spheroid graphite

iron and the inlets are made of

BS1400 LG2 gunmetal and copper

alloy parts with bronze spring,

stainless steel locknut, washer etc.

The breeching inlets are individually

hydrostatically tested on the body and

inlets at 20 bars (approx. 300psi).

systems. It comes in 25mm and

50mm diameter male BSPT screw inlet

connections.

The internal hydrants

(Landing valves) is single

headed type taken out

from 150/100 mm dia riser

through suitable re-

ducer. The outlets is gun

metal and confirm to IS :

5290. HT Hose reels is

firmly held against the wall

by suitable heavy brackets

and supports. The hose reel

is swinging type ( 180 deg.)

and the entire Dum reel etc. is as per IS : 3876. The rubber

tubing is best quality ( Dunlop ) and the nozzle is 6 mm dia.

Shut off type. The equipment shall be out of one of the ap-

proved makes .

Hydrant Valves, also known as Mill cocks or Landing Valves

are fitted with outlet connections to suit all known fire

threads. They are available with an 80mm Female thread on

the inside which can be fitted with a nipple to replace the

older style Mill cocks which were fitted with 65mm Male BSP

threads.

We offer a range of hydrant

valves that are ISI marked and

conform to Indian standard IS:

5290. These fulfil the demands

of various agencies including

Marine Mercantile Department

(MMD) and others.


FIRE HYDRANTS

We offer a range of FIRE HY-

DRANT SYSTEM and YARD HY-

DRANTS with all required acces-

sories. The Hydrant System

comprises of AC motor driven

pump sets with all required ac-

cessories including valves, in-

strumentation and controls

etc. Complete in all respects.

An automatic hydrant system is

furnished covering the areas

completely from independent

pipe work from the fire water

pump set. The hydrant pipe

work is remaining pressurized

through the proposed jockey

pump taking care of any leak-

ages in the system pipe lines,

valves and fittings.

The hydrant system is kept charged by pressurized water

at approx. 7 Kg. Cm. Sq. at all times. In the event of fire

when any of the hydrant valves in the net work is opened,

the resultant fall in pressure system is enabling starting

the AC MOTOR driven fire water pumping set through pres-

sure switches automatically. One diesel engine pump shall

be standby pump serving hydrant system. Apart from the

automatic starting of the pump sets, provision shall be

kept for manual starting also. Shutting down of the pump

sets shall be manual.

D ry Chemical extinguishers

are designed for protec-

tion of light and ordinary haz-

ards Class “A” (ordinary com-

bustible materials), Class

“B” (Flammable liquids &

gases) and Class “C” (electrical

fire).

C arbon Dioxide extinguishers

are suitable to be used for

fighting Class “B” (flammable liq-

uids & gases) and Class

“C” (Electrical fire). Carbon dioxide

is a non-corrosive extinguishing

agent that leaves no residue after a

fire. As a gas, CO2 provides its own

pressure for discharge and will

penetrate all parts of a hazard.

W ater Fire extinguishers

can be utilized in Class

"A” (ordinary combustible ma-

terials) fire hazards such as

office environment and indus-

trial locations, as well as ware-

house and oxidizing chemical

storage areas. The unit fea-

tures a stainless shell and

chrome-plated valve. The

What Size of Fire Extinguisher Suits a Car?

Weight determines the size of fire extinguishers; they are also

categorized by the fire repellent they contain. There are many

models on the market right now that are small and compact,

ideal for a personal vehicle. These 2 lb or 1 kg (approximate

conversion) fire extinguishers are light enough to handle easily

and small enough to fit into most cars unobtrusively. Commer-

cial vehicles must carry a fire extinguisher based on NFPA

A larm Check Valve

Alarm Check Valve are 4” and 6” in size respectively. They are installed between the water supply and the riser for sprinkler system. It is open in the event of an activation of the sprinkler system in a fire situation or dur-ing periodic testing of the system. These valves can be installed horizon-tally or vertically as required.
