  • Resident Spotlightwas discharged, but came home with health issues due tomeningitis. He got a job at Keeler Brass and I continuedworking at Fafiner. When his medical issue was resolvedhe finally popped the question, and of course I said yes.We married in April 19, 1945. We rented a place inNorth Blendon, where our daughter was born, and thereattended North Blendon C.R.C.. I was a stay at homemom. After living there 4 years we moved to Hud-sonville, on Port Sheldon. Our son was born there. Wejoined Immanuel C.R.C. We were very active there, Peteas deacon & elder. I taught Sunday School & Chairmanof the Catering Committee, President of the Ladies Aid.When Georgetown C.R.C. built around the corner ofour house we became members there and tried to servethe Lord. After working at Keeler 42 years Pete retired. Then we did a lot of traveling. We enjoyed his years ofretirement until November 28, 1999. The Lord took himto his Heavenly home. We were blessed with 7 preciousgrandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. God has beengood. I have been a widow for 21 years and I am 97 yearsold. My parents taught me at a early age to have a strongfaith in God. Attending church and being in God’s word

was very important. After Petepassed, I started volunteering. The Lord has blessed me by vol-unteering at Laurels, LOVE,Bibles for Missions, Bible les-sons for Crossroads, and Chris-tian family services for Missis-sippi for 14 years. Now I ammaking my home at SheldonMeadows. One of my favoriteBible verses is Isaiah 40:31,“They that wait upon the Lordshall renew their strength, theyshall mount with wings as ea-gles, they shall run and not growweary. They shall wait and notfaint.”

I grew up in Borculo, Michigan living on a sixty, acrefarm with my parents, Albert and Janet Bosch, three sis-ters and three brothers. We were taught to help Dad out-side or Mom in the house. We always grew a large gar-den and Mom canned everything she could. She also, baked our bread. Wow was that good! There was alwayssomething to do, but there was time to play with ourdolls and games outside. When I was 10 years old the de-pression came. Those were rough years for everyone.Being on a farm we always had food because of our gar-den, moms canning and baking. Dad butchered a cow,and a pig so we had lots of meat. I remember whenChristmas came. My Dad, brother and I went to ourwoods for a Christmas tree with a sleigh drawn by horses. We made paper ornaments and strung popcorn to put onthe tree. No lights because we had no electricity.

Our family attended Borculo C.R.C., and it wasvery important to us. I went to Sunday School, Cate-chism, attended Young Peoples, Girls Society and playedthe organ for church services. I went to Borculo Schoolthrough the 10th grade. I loved school and played pianofor the school band. After graduation I did housework foran uncle and aunt in Zeeland, then I went to work at Hubbell’sin Zeeland. At that time, I metmy future husband, Pete. Hewas drafted in the army forWorld War 2. I went to work atFafiner, in Holland, where theymade parts for airplanes for thewar. Our social life was family, neighbors, and church becausegas was rationed so we had towalk most places we went. I gotword that Pete was ready to goover sea, but he contractedspinal meningitis. He was hos-pitalized for six months at CampAtterbury, in Indiana. There he

Christ who is our hope! Especially in these times we’reliving in. I also, enjoy song writing in my spare time. Ienjoy writing songs of hope and encouragement. I also, enjoy Double Dutch. It is jumping with 2 ropes insteadof just one. We played it in school all the time.

I also worked as a Spanish interpreter in a variety ofsettings anywhere from schools, hospitals, attorney of-fices, neuro rehabilitation, and for a private investigator. My dad pasted away in 2017 of cancer. At the time I wasstill working as an interpreter. I decided I needed amore, steady income now with the children going to col-lege. I made my way to Sheldon Meadows and havebeen here for 2 years. I started working as an RA in theTerrace. I enjoy connecting with residents and caring for

them. It reminds me of thetimes I cared for my dad and ithelps remind me of him. I amalso, working as Life Enrich-ment Assistant. I have the priv-ilege of helping bring smiles andbrighten the resident’s days inmany ways. I especially love toplay the guitar and sing for, andwith the residents. I am blessedto work with an amazing staffand employees.

Hi, my name is Lilly A. I was born in Bronx, NewYork. My parents are from Puerto Rico, so I guess thatmakes me a New York Rican. I’ve had the privilege ofvisiting Puerto Rico. I visited the city, and capital ofPuerto Rico, San Suan. San Suan is where the buildingsare beautiful, vibrant colors of yellow, bright orange, andgreen. I also, visited a place called El Morro. It is a fortthat dates back to the 1500’s and was finished in 1700’s.

My husband, Sam, and I have been married for 20years. We have four children, Sam Jr. age 19, Lily age 16,Alison age 15, and Annalise age 8. My husband wasborn in Grand Rapids and has family in New York, which is how and where I met my husband. We also, lived in Port St. Lucie, Florida, for 4 years. At that time,I found out my dad had beensuffering from Parkinson’s andto help my mom I had themmove closer to me in Florida.Later we made our way back toMichigan, where I worked inhome health care.
