    Dear all,

The Arts Council of Mongolia is very happy to present toyou our annual report for 2013.

The chosen cover of the 2013 ACM annual report is a

piece entitledShambhala by young and talented artist named

M.Batzorig. Our selection was not accidental.

Glancing at the picture, it relates the signs of urban

cultures, the connections between things, and the rules of

order. You might wonder where is this artist named after

the Buddhist realm Shambhala. Let us look again. Buildings, road signs, billboards, information towers, flags and banners

with matching colors, lights, images of various sorts float in

the air. Artists through these images explain that the human

soul is not bound by rules and that creativity, dreams, and

    freedom of thought drives us.

Recently, our freedom and dreams are dependent on the

presence of too much materiality. To experience freedom of

thought in becoming an artist, you do not have to have wealth.Just look around you with a little curiosity, look through

different eyes, visit one of the citys free art galleries, take

pictures of your favorite art with your phone, or its enough

just to think about them on your way home. Then when the

opportunity arises as the calendar of events rotates, go see

performances, meet with artists, and try to support them-

thats plenty. This gives freedom of thought to you.

In 2013, ACM initiatives supported intellectual resources

and artists productions, giving you a rich diversity of

access and choice and providing for many ideas from many

    perspectives.

Of the ACMs four core programs, the largest in the Arts

program. In 2013, the Arts program implemented more than

20 projects and cultural exchange programs and trainings, with

participation from more than 500 artists, arts managers and

reaching 7,000 viewers. In 2013, the Arts program presented

Compositions 2013 concert by the Percussion Ensemble

of the Music and Dance College, Stars of American Ballettour featuring principal dancers of New York City Ballet in

Mongolia, and 12 award-winning films that were selected in

highly prestigious international film festivals including Cannes,

Venice, and Berlinalewere shown as part of the Ulaanbaatar

International Film Festival to promote cultural diversity and to

bring the world-renowned talents to Mongolia.Mongolian art,

film, music and dance artists worked in places such as Japan,

France, Taiwan, Singapore, Mexico, Georgia, Sweden, India,

working with artists from 15 countries of the world to increase

international cooperation and to exchange experiences.

The ACMs Community arts education program aims to

promote public awareness of arts and culture and increase the

value of arts and culture for individual and social development.

In 2013, the program implemented 12 art projects to

promote arts and culture and to increase the traditional and

contemporary arts understanding of the community, while

and ecological understanding and education and to inspire

participants to reduce and recycle trash through the arts for

general public, new initiatives wereLest We Regret and

Trash is not Trash! television program.

The Cultural heritage program implemented traditional

projects. This year, the program produced documentaries

about intangible cultural heritage promotion that broadcast

nationwide on MNB television channel and on specific projects

to preserve the heritage and valuable contributions for future

    generation.

The ACM is also working to implement a number of

initiatives to increase the support of cultural organizations

and individuals through the sustainable development of art
