ABOUT NEC CSI STUDENTS’ BRANCH

Unit of NEC CSI Students’ Branch has been functioning in our college

since 1992. The idea is to spread the knowledge, and provide opportunities to as

many interested as possible. The promotion of Information Technology as a

profession is the top priority of CSI. To fulfill this objective, the CSI regularly

organizes events such as conferences, conventions, special lectures and gives

various awards. And at the same time it also ensures that regular training and skill

development programs are organized for the IT professionals. Every year this

chapter organizes National Level Technical Symposium(NECSI) and NAtional

Conference on Computing and Application(NACCA). In Region VII, our branch

has received Best Students’ Chapter Award for the years 1996-97,1997-98,2005-

06,2006-07,2010-11,2011-12,2012-13,2013-14,2014-15,2015-16,2016-17.

1.Awareness Compaign on “Bharat Interface for Money –(BHIM)”

An awareness program on digital transaction was conducted by NEC CSI

Students’ Branch Counselor, Mr.L.Jerart Julus on 27th June 2017 for the second year

students of Information Technology. The aim of the program was to promote the

Government of India’s, Digital India movement. The students made an oath to carry out

digital transactions and also support their families in making e-transactions.

2.PHOTO-O-MAGIC

A training program on “PHOTO-O-MAGIC (Photoshop for Beginners)” was

conducted by NEC CSI Students’ Branch for second year IT and CSE students. This training

program conducted between 3rd July,2017 and 8th July,2017, was an initiative to feast the

creative skills of the budding engineers. The program speakers, G.Jeya Surya and

M.Abinesh Naga Murali (Final year IT) provided students some basic, interesting and

simple tactics in photoshop.

The program took place for one week under the efficient guidance of CSI student

counselor, Mr.L.Jerart Julus, AP/IT. The program was concluded by giving a test to the

students on the photoshopping skills acquired from the training.

3. AFTER EFFECTS

A short term training program ‘After effects’ (Video editing ) was organised by NEC

CSI students’ branch’s final year students between 10th July, 2017 to 12th July, 2017. A

good numbered 35 students from second, third years of IT and CSE took part in the training

program and have been inspired and motivated to expose their animation skills.

4. CSI INAUGURAL FUNCTION (2017-2018)

NEC CSI students’ branch for the academic year 2017-18 was inaugurated on 4th

August, 2017. The Chief Guest Mr.V.Srinivasa Ragavan of Nirals Information

Technologies private Ltd., inaugurated the NEC CSI student Branch and addressed the

gathering. In his inaugural address, he encouraged the students to expose their talent in this

competitive world. He narrated stories to instruct the students that the corporates expect ‘out

of box’ thinking. He quoted the words of Dr.A.P.J.Abdul Kalam ‘Dream, Dream, Dream’

to achieve one’s goals. He motivated the CSI students’ branch members to participate and

organize numerous events in the upcoming academic years.

5.GAME OF CODES (C DEBUGGING)

An interesting C debugging contest, ‘Game of codes’ was conducted by NEC CSI

students’ branch for second IT students on 8th August, 2017. About 50 students eagerly took

part in the contest and cracked through various stages. This contest helped in bringing out the

technical knowledge of the nascent engineers.

6. HANDS ON TRAINING IN ‘DEVELOPMENT OF INTERNET OF

THINGS IN APPLICATION ACROSS INDUSTRIES’

Our NEC CSI Students’ Branch has conducted Three days hands on training on

‘Development of IoT Applications across industries’ for IT students by Mr. B. Anto,

EINSTEIN Techno Solutions, Nagercoil from 16th August, 2017 to 18th August, 2017.

This course was very much useful for the students to do the projects in embedded field, get

the placement in core industries and enhance the knowledge in Internet of Things domain.

The program took place efficiently under the direct guidance of CSI Student coordinators

and counselor.

7. TECHNOVANZA’17

A one- day technical symposium, Technovanza’17 was conducted by the students of

Final year CSE and IT of NEC CSI Students’ Branch to the students of second year CSE and

IT on 22nd September, 2017 . It includes paper presentation, Code-a-thon, Pair with,

Gaming, Best Manager and Treasure hunt. These events acted as stimulators to expose both

technical as well as the non-technical knowledge and also the creativity of budding

engineers.

8. JOB AWARENESS PROGRAMME

A Guest lecture on the topic “Job Awareness Programme” was delivered by

Dr.K.G.Srinivasagan, Dean(Training and placement cell) for II year CSE & IT students on

6th January, 2018. The lecture was found useful by the students to understand about the

growing industrial demands.

9.CAREER DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME

NEC CSI students’ branch Secretary S.Pravin Kumar, provided a talk on

career development to the second year students on 27th January 2018. The session

was mainly in relation to the Soft skills improvement and on the development of

skills required by the corporates. The speaker provided useful suggestions and

clarified the doubts arised by the students.

10.NECSI’18

(TWO-DAY NATIONAL LEVEL TECHNICAL SYMPOSIUM)

A Two-day National level Technical Symposium NECSI’18 was organised by

NEC CSI Students’ Branch on 15th February, 2017 and 16th February, 2017. Nearly 152

participants from various reputed colleges took part in the symposium. Events such as Tech

Hunt, Gaming, Pair With, Best manager, Code Tri(x)cks, Find Me and Machine

learning Seminar were organized in the Technical Symposium.

The Technical Symposium NECSI’18 had been organized under the guidance of

Dr.D.Manimegalai, Professor and Head of Information Technology department, with the

support of Mr. L.Jerart Julus, CSI Students’ Counselor, AP(SG)/IT, Mr.Rajkumar, CSI Staff

coordinator, AP/CSE, and other student members of the Branch.

11. ‘PLAY MODE’ GAMING CONTEST

An interesting gaming contest was conducted by Final year CSE students to second

year CSE and IT students on 3rd February, 2018. Many students eagerly participated in the

contest and it came out to be a rejuvenating event for ardent gamers.

12.CSI FOUNDATION PROGRAMME

CSI foundation program was arranged by the NEC CSI students’ branch CSI

coordinators and CSI EC members on 6th March, 2018. Lectures were provided by

Mr.L.Jerart Julus, CSI Student Counselor, AP(SG)/IT and Mr.K.Raj Kumar, CSI staff

coordinator, AP/CSE, about CSI about the cyber forensics . The importance of cyber

forensics and the various applications were narrated .The higher studies and carriers in cyber

forensics were discussed. The program was conducted for the third year IT and CSE

students.

13.VALEDICTORY FUNCTION

CSI Students’ Branch of National Engineering College had conducted the

Valedictory function on 13th March, 2017. Student President, G.Jeya Surya, Final year IT

of CSI Students’ Chapter welcomed the gathering. The Valedictory address was given by

NEC CSI Students’ Branch counselor Mr.L.Jerart Julus, AP(SG)/IT.

SBC in his valedictory address, our CSI students’ branch creates a platform for all the

students to gain leadership qualities and technical knowledge. He asked the students to

improve their Team spirit and Communication skill so that they can compete with the other

students. Also insisted the students to improve their Research activities, Students should

develop their knowledge on different technologies rather than the regular curriculum and

should have the capability to implement that knowledge. Later, prizes and certificates were

distributed to the students who had participated in various contests conducted throughout the

academic year 2016 -2017.

Finally, Vice President A.R.Abisharen, Third CSE thanked the gathering. The event

was successfully organized with the effective guidance of NEC - CSI President Dr. D.

Manimegalai, HOD/IT , CSI Student Counselor, Mr.L.Jerart Julus, AP(SG)/IT and Staff

coordinator Mr.K.Raj Kumar, AP/CSE.
