BNL Guide to Installation of ANSWERv5 for MARKAL Training
First, copy AnswerV5Installation folder from the System CD into your computers C:drive. Then to carry out a new installation of ANSWERv5 (the multi-region version ofANSWER) proceed as follows.NOTE: You may find that the installation process needsto reboot your PC in order to upgrade certain files that are currently in use.
1. Close all currently running applications, and be sure to close the Microsoft OfficeTaskbar (which interferes with a Visual Basic installation).
2. Bring up Windows Explorer and double-click on the file Setup.exe in folderC:\AnswerV5Installation. This brings up the InstallShield Wizard and a splash screendisplaying the ABARE logo and ANSWER, MARKAL Energy Modelling forWindows as follows:
3. Click on the [Next>] button. This brings up the following:

4. Click on the [Next>] button. This brings up the following:
5. If you agree to accept the terms of the license agreement, click on the I accept theterms in the license agreement radio button, and click on the [Next>] button. Thisbrings up the following:

You should use the default of C:\ANSWERv5.

Uninstalling ANSWERv5
To uninstall ANSWERv5:1. Choose Settings/Control Panel from the Start menu and then double-click on
Add/Remove Programs
2. Highlight ANSWERv5 and then click on the Add/Remove button. The sequence ofscreens that appears depends on the operating system that you are running, and isnot shown here.
