Help Contents

AnyReader is a data copy software for non-readable media: CD, DVD, HDDVD, Blu-ray (BD), LAN-Drives, flash memory, ZIP disks, floppy disks, etc.AnyReader effectively copies and saves corrupt data from any type ofdisks or erroneous connection where the standard copying methods fail. The program supports resumed downloads from the remote PC if theconnection was broken while copying (especially useful for unreliable W i-Finetworks).

AnyReader is great for recovering files from scratched CDs, defectiveFlash Memory or Floppy and Hard Disks. Normally, when your computer isunable to copy files from a damaged disk it will abort and delete the partof the file it has copied. AnyReader will continue copying right to theend; any data that hasn't been recovered after several retries is replaced with blanks. This willallow you to truly copy every byte of information that can be read at all.

Features

Copy over unreliable Wired or Wireless LAN

What do we know about W ireless LANs?

W i-Fi, or W ireless Fidelity, means freedom: it allows youconnect wirelessly to a remote PC or the Internet from yourcouch at home, a bed in a hotel room or a conference room atwork. How? W i-Fi is a wireless technology, very much like celltelephony. W i-Fi enabled computers to send and receive dataindoors and outdoors, anywhere within the range of the basestation. And the best thing of all, it's fast. In fact, it's severaltimes faster than the fastest cable modem connection. But...

W i-Fi is prone to deterioration for various reasons. It can bebrought down by the weather, radio interference, physicalobstacles or something else. That is when you will need AnyReader. It enhances the availabilityof your WLANs by continuing to read the data over the failing network.

This section explains the procedure you should follow to copy across a LAN or WLAN withAnyReader.

The program will guide you through 5 simple steps:

Step 1 of 5: Choose program action

Select 'Copy Files across an unstable network' and click 'Next'.

Step 2 of 5: Select the source files you wish to copy

Merge Broken Files

Computer users often find themselves in a situation when they need to reconstruct a valuable filefrom two or more of its bad copies. It could be two damaged video or audio CDs, two downloadedcopies of a file or maybe two files that started out as identical copies but were changed bydifferent people. Our developers knows the answer.

AnyReader compares two versions of a damaged file and makes a good file out of them. Take alook at pic.1 below and you'll have the answer to your question "How does it work?".

AnyReader finds the bad sectors in one copy and replaces them with the good ones from theother copy.

picture 1.

In five basic steps, anyone can reconstruct the original from a set of bad copies in a just fewminutes.

Step 1 of 5: How to start?

First select 'Merge Files'.

Step 2 of 5: Select the source files you need to put right

Interface Language

Switching between interface languages:

The program asks you to select your language at the first startup, however, if you wish toswitch the language later just follow these steps:

1. In the main program window click on "Menu..." and choose "InterfaceLanguage..." to display the language selection dialog.

2. In this dialog all the available interface languages are listed.3. Using the drop-down box, select the language file to be used and press OK.

Note: After changing the interface language the program must be restarted.

How to add a new language?

If your language is not listed here you can create the required file yourself. It is quitesimple: just use the file english.lng (located in the program directory) as a template;translate all words and sentences from English into the language of your choice. The filehas to be saved with the name yourlanguage.lng (e.g. esperanto.lng).

Just three notes here. First, don't translate in english.lng the words in square brackets(e.g. [Translations] and [Messages] - those are the "standard" headers which should notbe changed) and the sentences before the "=" sign, because the program uses thesewords as an ID of the translated text. Second, try to keep the sentences as short as theyappear in the English version – otherwise they probably will not fit in the dialog boxes; insome cases the program may even crash if some messages are too long. And last: don'tchange things like %s, %d or 0x%08X – these are the format specifiers.

By the way, don't forget to inform us that you've made a new international version – we'llinclude this file into the next version of software. If you contact us prior to starting thetranslation (to be sure that you're the only person who is doing this work), you canreceive free registration!
