Creating and Maintaining Family Traditions

Building a strong family takes time and effort. Strong families are unified through deep emotional connections with each other, a sense of belonging in the family system and healthy relationships between members. This program is designed to reinforce the family assets of rituals and traditions by establishing routines, emphasizing habits, preserving and respecting existing traditions and providing practical ways to establish new traditions.

All are welcomed to attend this lesson presented by Benita Peoples, Harrison County Family and Consumer Sciences agent, on April 19, 2018 beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the Fayette County Extension Service.

The program is free and open to the public. Please register by calling 859-257-5582 so we will have plenty of handouts.

Homemaker Annual Meeting Sharing Our Talents

Club Guidelines The 2018 Fayette Co. Extension Homemakers Annual Meeting, May 24, will not only be festive but serve the greater purpose of support for our scholarship fund. Clubs and members can donate an individual service or group item. Sharing Our Talent Each club has at least one marketable service to offer. Hopefully larger clubs will offer more than one. An extra benefit is getting to know fellow homemakers that are not in your club through exchange of services. To participate, simply: - Select a service that you are willing to share or teach

another homemaker. - Complete the certificate on the last page of the

newsletter. - Return to the Extension Office by May 18. - A list will be compiled of all certificates and presented

at the annual meeting before the auction begins. - Decide what service you would enjoy receiving. - Bid, bid, bid! - Highest bidder wins. - A shared talent certificate will be presented with

contact and scheduling information. Questions? Do not hesitate to call the Extension Office for clarification.

Ovarian Cancer Tea

Meeting Notes: Embry’s is presenting the Fashion Show. We have just found out that we will have a special ending at the show, with a fabulous wedding dress.

Homemaker clubs have the following responsibilities:

1. Providing a model for the fashion show,

2. Helping with the silent auction – preparing a basket and helping to find sponsors for other silent auction items, or sponsorships. We are also looking for sponsorship for our expenses as well – so if you are aware of someone who might be willing to sponsor the event, there is a letter that you can take to them with all the details.

3. Marketing the event- flyers are available at the Extension Office – please take to your churches, beauty shops, club meetings, and anywhere else that you might reach an audience.

4. Decorating – we hope to sell tickets to others beyond our own Homemakers – so we are asking each club to be responsible for the own tables plus at least one more.

Selling “tickets” – invite your family, friends and

everyone you know. This is a great cause.
