Hanumant High School had planned out an activity of “I Love Reading” as a part of the Children’s Week Celebration. We had this event from 14th November – 2014 to 23rd- November. The students were asked to engage in the most enjoyable activity of reading storybooks and increase their knowledge. But this was done differently by also involving the parents along with the children. The library reading seems less interesting for the children at young age but it is more fascinating to see the kids seating in the lap of the mother in the school library and explaining the stories and enjoying. The natural atmosphere and the decoration with flowers and teddy bears with the books in hand triggered them to keep themselves up for reading for an hour. The parents had an opportunity and time to learn about their kids’ interest and reading skills. It was pleasure to see the spark of brightened eyes while they read the title of the book House Smashers (Tom & Jerry), Noddy, The Mermaid, Cindrella & The Prince, The Snow White, The Jungle Book and so on. They enjoyed the gigantic collection of the books in our library, pop – up books, touch n feel books and pictorial description. This will develop the interest of our learners in reading the books apart from the curriculum. It was also guiding for the parents to be the motivator of their children. They have given strongly positive feedback which is recorded in a special book. They congratulated and admired the new venture of the School Management and liked the arrangement of the event, books and spent memorable moments with their children. Reema A. Bhavsar Primary-Coordinator,
