Proposed Format Going Forward

The following slides use the previous format of the APEC TPT-WG Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) Experts Group.

Considering the recent realignment by which the Intermodal Experts Group and ITS Experts Group are now joined, it is proposed that the combined group (Intermodal + ITS) will utilize this format to create an updated Action Plan.

The updated Action Plan will include areas addressing the following:– Concerns of the Intermodal and ITS representatives.– Electronic Commerce Concerns– Sustainability and Energy Concerns

Goals

Goals of the APEC Intermodal & ITS Experts Group follow:

Reduce barriers to the movement of people and goods as well as facilitate trade.

Save lives, time, money, energy and protect the environment through the realization of Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS).

Facilitate the implementation of an efficient, integrated, safe, secure, and sustainable (energy and environment) intermodal transportation system.

Promote and facilitate the uptake of Electronic Commerce among businesses in transportation and related trading activities.

Evaluate new transportation technologies and methodologies used in supply chain management such as the tracking and tracing of containers.
