10 of CFHS students made it into the Horry and Georgetown High

School Juried Art Show. This show is held every year at the

Burroughs and Chapin Art Museum from the middle of April thru May.

It is an honor just for these students to make it into the show so if

you see any of the following, please take a moment to congratulate

them!

Upcoming events for the Visual Art Department:

First, the Juried Art Show at the Burroughs and Chapin Art Museum.

This show will open April 23rd (awards ceremony on the 28th) and

run through May 26th. CFHS will have 10 students in the show. Last

year we took home Best in Show which is the artwork featured when

you click the link below.

Next up we have ArtFields. This is a relatively new art show and is

located in Lake City and is open from April 26th through May 4th.

This show is AMAZING and features many professional artists,

muralists that will be painting during the show, live art competitions,

and of course the Junior competition. We have 5 artists in this show.

I suggest making a day of it and check out the city and the art!

Then there is CFHS Spring Art Show. It will be May 14th from 5:30-

6:30 with awards being announced at 6. This art show is hosted by

the National Art Honor society and features many of our student

artists as well as a few artists from each of our feeder schools. Please

come see our talented students as they showcase their hard work.

Lastly we will be hosting our second annual Chalk Off on May 18th

from 10-3. It is open to ALL ages and is free to participate. Chalk will

be available for purchase or you can bring your own. There will be

fun art activities, games, and food at this family friendly event! We

hope to make this event larger each year so if you or your club/group

would like to participate we would love to have you! The flyer is

attached if you would like to print it and put it up in your room.

Congratulations to Carolina Forest High Teacher,

Jeff Layton who was awarded HCS Tech

Innovator of the Month for March for the high

school division!

See below:

CF Ultimate hosted Academic Magnet High

School and Lowcountry Flyers (a composite

team from schools in the Summerville area) this

past Saturday. Teams were divided into Varsity

and Jr. Varsity squads to allow for lots of playing

time. Games lasted 75-80 minutes each and by

the end of the day these were the results:

Varsity: 3-0

CF JV: 13-5

Jr. Varsity: 0-3

CF V: 5-13

We are incredibly proud of the effort from both

teams as we are gearing up for States in May.

Congratulations to the Carolina Forest High School NJROTC

Drill Team for taking 3rd place at the Mooresville Drill Meet

Competition on April 6th. The Panther Navy also earned 5

individual event trophies at the competition.

FFA Plant presentations at the S.C. State House.

This is an annual event where FFA Chapters across the

state present samples of the plants they have produced in

their school agricultural education department

greenhouses to our state representatives for their support

of Agricultural Education programs in our local schools.

Track

This past weekend, the track team competed in the Beach Run Invitational. Here are some of the highlights

from the meet. We had 16 top 10 finishers for the guys! 5 were in the top 5 and 1 in the top 3. Bryce

Crawford broke his own school record by 3/4 of an inch in the shot put. Michael Mohr broke the school

record in the steeplechase for a 4th place finish, and the boys 4x200 relay broke the school record by just

over a second. All three male pole vaulters that competed finished in the top 10 (Aiden Wisler, Max Wisler,

Eoin Mahood), as well as all three males in the steeplechase (Michael Mohr, Raymond Nassrah, Daniel

Santiago), and the 1600m (Michael Mohr, Jonathan Penter, Cullen Dore). The boy’s team for the first time

ever had a 10.5 point lead going into day 2 of the meet. There were 50 schools registered for the meet.

The girl’s team had similar success! There were 10 top 10 finishers and 2 of those were in the top 5! The

girls broke the school record in the 4x200m relay as well. They bested the old record set earlier this year by

1.5 seconds! All three of our female shot putters came in the top 10(Doris Migliaccio, Shakyra Gamble,

Danni Emmen)!

The hard work that these boys and girls have put in this season has been incredible, and they could not be

here without all of the support. We are competing for the region title on Wednesday this week. The girls

are looking to win their third straight region title, and the boys are looking to win their first since 2015.

Attention Students,

It is against HCS policy to possess or use pepper spray/mace on school campus. Pepper spray is considered a weapon and will be dealt with as so. Please do not bring pepper spray to school.
