Term 3 Week 2 Achieve with Pride 28th July 2020
Welcome back to term 3! What a fantastic start to the term we have had so far. Our first day back at school was an exciting one with our project launch for our new creative arts based project “Embrace, Enjoy, Express”. The day began with a flash mob by the teachers during the morning assembly, then the students rotated through a range of different art rotations. I am so excited to see what this project will bring.
Hockey We have been lucky enough to secure sporting schools funding this term which will enable us to have a specialist teach our students Hockey. This will run every Tuesday for sport. Please make sure that students wear appropriate sports uniform on Tuesdays. Staffing Mrs Burley’s contract has been extended due to COVID interruptions. This means that Miss Hedley will remain Relieving Principal during this time and Miss Lawson will remain on the Wallabies class. Important information We will continue to communicate with our school community via the school app. To ensure you receive the most up to date information please download the app and regularly check. We are continuing to meet the Department of Educations standards around safety at school by implementing hygiene procedures, as a part of this, we have asked for parents to remain outside the school grounds to assist in reducing the amount of people on site and reduce adult contact. If you are required to come into the office please ring in advance. Students will need to bring a drink bottle every day as the bubblers are not in use. Thank you for supporting us and helping us to keep our community safe. Drop off and Pick up In accordance with our social distancing please do not enter the school grounds at pick up and drop off times. If you require to see any staff members please call in advance. Please be patient at pick up time, the teachers will send your children out when they believe it is safe to do so, make sure you are visible to the teachers and please come to the fence line on the school side of the road, as we will not be allowing students to cross the road alone. Have a fantastic week, Rikki Hedley Relieving Principal ‐ Broke Public School
Wallabies News
The Wallabies enjoyed the project launch activities and are looking forward to making different
types of art and exploring different mediums and materials. Last week, they looked at the work of
Georges Seurat and were focused on using Pointillism to produce a famous world landmark. This
week, we are focusing on Australian icons and will take inspiration from Andy Warhol’s pop art.
As the project progresses, the Wallabies will participate in music, drama and dance activities. Our
project also incorporates geography, so students will learn about places around the world and our
global connections.
In Maths, the Wallabies have started the term well, applying their knowledge of written strategies
to solve word problems. We will soon look at patterns and algebra.
Kind Regards,
Miss Lawson
