April President’s Message As I am coming near the end of my term as President of the Calusa Chapter of the Florida Engineering Society, I find it hard to believe that I have been on this board for 6 years. The time has flown by, but I have met many great people and grown as a professional because of my involvement with FES. I encourage you to become involved too! It does not have to be FES (although it is the best!), but it is important and beneficial to get involved in a professional society that gives back to the community and supports your profession. On a totally unrelated note, we are beginning to search for a Treasurer for next year. If you are not familiar with the process, we recruit a Treasurer each year and the current officers move up one position. Treasurer to Secretary, Secretary to VP, VP to President and President to Past President. This is a great system as you always have more experienced officers to lead you, as opposed to electing a new board each year. We have monthly conference calls for board meeting and a monthly member meeting. It does not take up a large amount of your time as we spread out the responsibilities. Please consider applying for this position, or tell someone about it if you think they would fit the role. Our April meeting is set and you should have already received an invite to attend. The meeting will be held at the Liles Hotel in Bonita Springs. We will be getting an update and short tour of the Downtown Re-development Project on Old 41 from City staff. Please make time for this event and sign up for next Thursday. More information can be found at this link. April Meeting We are still looking for nominations for our annual member awards. Details can be found at Nominations on our website. There are many worthy candidates in our chapter but we need you to nominate them! Save the Date!
