East Visayas successfully stages Earth Day Rally to commemorate Earth Day

E arth Day Rally was successfully staged Tuesday in celebration of

Earth Day. According to Regional Executive Director Leonardo R. Sibbaluca of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources DENR in his message for the celebration, the month of April is celebrated as Earth-Month and April 22 is the Global Earth Day. Tuesday ’s celebration theme was “Earth Day Everyday, Everywhere and for Everyone” he added. Sibbaluca in his Earthday message has called on all the people present to be united in protecting mother earth. Mr. Larry Pascua, the Eastern Visayas Coordinator of the Philippine Movement for Climate justice the Guest Speaker, gave his Earth Day Message by emphasizing that their movement is the only organization who is call ing the attention of the international community regarding the worsening condition of the environment. He also said that whatever is happening with the environment

is the result of the ways people l ive. Call ing Yolanda the new normal, Pascua called on the government to make radical moves through passing into law, ways to protect the people from worsening condition of the environment. “ We also need the support of the international organization and international leaders to address radically carbon gas emissions which is now being discussed in the international level unless addressed we have nothing left for the next generations, “ he added. Pascua said that scientist believed that if carbon emissions will not be lessen the condition of the environment is irreversible. Pascua ended his message by saying that individual efforts to contribute in the preservation and conservation of the planet earth are needed much more of the government to radically reduce carbon emission. Si Presidente Benigno S. Aquino III mimando sa Department of Health

(DOH) ug sa Inter-Agency Task Force MERS-CoV sa pagpaigting pa sa ilang mga paningkamot aron ma-contact ang kapin sa 200 ka mga pasahero sa Abril 15 nga Etihad Airways flight EY424 kinsa wala pa katestinge sa naasoy nga sakit. Si Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Secretary Herminio Coloma, Jr. miingon nga hangtud pagka alas 12 sa udto kagahapon, 247 sa 414 ka pasahero (o 59.7 percent) ang na-contact na. Ang mga nose ug throat swabs sa 163 ka mga pasahero nakolekta na ug na-proceso. Ning maong gidaghanon, 100 ka mga pasahero negative sa MERS-CoV.

Ang resulta alang sa 63 ka laing pasahero pending pa, ingon ni Coloma. Matud niya nga ang Presidente nagsugo na sa DOH pag-paniguro nga ang tanang pasahero mopa-ilawom sa libreng nose and throat swabbing tests para sa Middle East Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus (MERS-CoV) diha sa mga public hospitals o sa mga DOH-accredited medical facilities. Iyang gisubli ang panawagan sa gobyerno alang sa 200 kapin pa ka mga pasahero sa Flight EY0424 sa pag coordinate direkta sa DOH pinaagi sa 24-hour hotlines: 711-1001; 711-1002; 0922-884-1564; 0920-949-8419; ug 0915-772-5621. Nagapabilin ang alert bulletin alang sa mga Filipino ug mga foreign

nationals sa pag-biyahe paingon ug gikan sa mga nasud sa Arabian Peninsula (Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Oman, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, ug United Arab Emirates).
