The first time Katy Gardner applied for braces with Smile for a Lifetime she was not chosen. However, because of her determination, she reapplied, improved her application, and was awarded braces. Katy attends school in Weiner, AR and is described by teacher Patricia Hesse as being “a gifted student” and Ms. Hesse rates Katy “at the top of her class for her willingness to serve others without the promise of personal gain.” When we asked Katy what a healthy, straight smile would help her achieve she replied, “…pretty teeth will give me more self-confidence. Right now, I’m grossed-out by my teeth but when I get braces, I will smile and be a happier person.” Lee Lamberson was nominated by his Jonesboro High School drama teacher Ms. Dawn Tucker. Lee is a senior this year at JHS and is described by Ms. Tucker as “having the natural ability to act but lacking the confidence because he is self-conscious about his smile.” Lee has plans to peruse a college education in drama, and told us, “Receiving braces was an amazing day for me! I finally feel confident laughing and smiling around other people. I can now laugh at a joke without closing my mouth so no one can see my teeth.” Congratulations Lee! “ Thanks to everyone working with Smile for a Lifetime. The heartfelt appreciation still bubbling from our student, Skylar Olney, was obvious the Monday following her Friday appointment with you! The $6,000 worth of
