If there were any cardinal rules in our “Meats and Potatoes” business, the phrase “Steak goes best with Cabernet” would probably be one of them. This may have been true when our founder, Alan Stillman opened Smith & Wollensky in the 1970’s, when his cellar might be limited by what was available in the market back then. However, much has happened in the world of wine since then. So this begs the question: Is this Steak=Cab rule still the golden rule? In this section named “Meat Market,” our team has hand-picked a short but diverse list of wines outside of the Cabernet domain which are dedicated to:
