Welcome to the annual Arrow Brand Genetics Production Sale. The sale will be held at Lake Region Livestock in Devils Lake, ND. There will be a complimentary lunch served on sale day.

This year’s sale will again offer a group of yearling Angus bulls. We will again offer a number of bulls sired by Sitz Up-ward 307R, L A Packer 78 and SAV Final Answer 0035. Additionally, we will offer two new sire groups – S Chisum 6175 and VDAR Really Windy 4097. The bulls will be sorted into small groups by sire for ease of viewing on sale day.

This sale book contains a Pedigree, EPD’s, Dollar Values and Individual Measurements for all bull calves offered. A two generation pedigree is listed for each bull. There are Production, Maternal and Carcass EPD’s listed for each bull. Addi-tionally, Dollar Values are listed for each bull. The individual measurements for each bull include the following:

• Production measures - Birth Weight (BW), Weaning Weight (205 Wt), Yearling Weight (365 Wt), Frame Score (FS) and Scrotal Circumference (SC)

• Carcass ultrasound measures - Intramuscular Fat (IMF), Ribeye Area (REA) and Back Fat (RIB FAT) • Maternal measures – Age of Dam (Age), Dam Body Condition Score (BCS), Dam Frame Score (FS) and Dam

Weight (Wt)• Ratios – The calf ratios are provided for 205 Wt, 365 Wt, IMF, REA and RIB FAT. The cow ratios are provided for

Birth, Weaning, Yearling, IMF and REA. All ratios provided are amongst a whole herd contemporary group.

The EPD’s, Dollar Values, Ratios and the Individual Measures listed above can be used along with your visual evalua-tion to select a bull.

All bulls have satisfactorily passed a complete Breeding Soundness Exam. The bulls are guaranteed for the first breed-ing season. We will stand behind the bulls 100% and we will treat you as we would wish to be treated.

EPD Comparison and Average DataExpected Progeny Difference (EPD), is the prediction of how future progeny of each animal are expected to perform relative to progeny of other animals in the database. EPD’s are expressed in units of measure for each trait.

For Example:Weaning Weight EPD (WW), expressed in pounds, is a predictor of a sire’s ability to transmit weaning growth to his progeny com-pared to that of other sires.-Bull A WW EPD: +50-Bull B WW EPD: +60A producer can expect Bull B to sire calves that weigh 10 lbs more at weaning than Bull A – assuming that the bulls are ex-posed to similar cows, similar environment, and similar manage-ment.

EPD’s are a very good tool to use in bull selection.

The American Angus Association strongly encourages breeders and users of Angus genetics to use EPD’s as the genetic improve-ment tool of choice. EPD’s account for all the available informa-tion on an animal – individual measures, progeny data, pedigree and genomic result.

Pre- Sale Inspection: All bulls are available for viewing at the Benson Farm until April 15th and thereafter at Lake Region Live-stock in Devils Lake.

Accommodations: A block has been reserved at the Holiday Inn Express in Devils Lake. Call 701-665-3200.

Sale Order: All bulls will sell in catalog order.

Health: All bulls are part of a complete calf-hood and yearling vaccination program. Health papers and brand releases will be available for interstate shipment.

Phone and Mail Bids: Anyone unable to attend the sale can place mail bids with Justin Green or Jared Benson. Phone bid-ding will be available sale day by contacting Justin Green, Jared Benson, Vern Frey or Jim Ziegler.

Delivery: Free delivery up to 300 miles will be provided on all sale bulls. A discount of $100 per bull will be made to buyers who haul their bull(s) sale day. All buyers should provide delivery instructions when settling up on sale day. Upon request, a copy of the breeding soundness exam will be provided and registra-tion papers will be transferred.

Terms and Conditions: The terms of the sale are cash. Settle-ment should be made the day of the sale to Lake Region Live-stock. The bulls sell in accordance with the guidelines set forth by the American Angus Assoc.

Bull DevelopmentAll bulls were raised on mother’s milk and grass. The bulls were all weaned in late September. The weaning weights were taken on October 2nd. This was the day that the gain test started at the Benson Farm. The gain test was administered in the following manner:

• 150 day gain test • Started at 10% CP and had maximum of 12% CP• Day 1-90: NEg 38-42 Mcal/lb• Day 91-150: NEg 42-46 Mcal/lb• The average daily gain (ADG) was 2.5 lbs/day

Breeding Soundness ExamThe bulls have all satisfactorily passed a breeding soundness exam. The exam was performed by Rugby Veterinary Service in accordance with Society of Theriogenology guidelines. Indi-vidual exam reports are available to all buyers and include the following:
