Art in the Park ExperienceStudent Art Competition

Artwork Theme The theme for the 2015–2016 K-12 Art Competition is Fun in Deerfield Beach: Activities, Animals and History that respresent your fun in Deerfield. We want to see what this topic inspires in you, whether it’s thoughts of surfing at the beach, the deer and manatees in the area, or outings in the park with your family. Looking for artwork to "inspire" the final mosaic. Selected art may be changed slightly to fit final mosaic piece. Students should use their creativity to create realistic pictures.

Media and Technique Requirements Any of the following media or techniques may be used:

• Paint (watercolor, tempera, poster, acrylic, etc.)

• Drawing materials (pencil, charcoal, colored chalk, pastels, oil pastels,colored pencils, markers, etc.)

• Collage materials (cut and glued papers, such as construction paper, tissue paper,wrapping paper, aluminum foil, etc.)

• Prints (handmade stencils, gadget printing, collographs, block prints, etc.)

• Original digital illustration

• Photography

Students are encouraged to use bold colors and strong lines. ALL ARTWORK SHOULD BE SUBMITTED ON 11x17 PAPER

Judging Criteria A selection committee will review artwork submissions based on the following criteria:

• Interpretation of the theme

• Technical skill

• Originality

Copyright Law Any artwork that depicts copyrighted images will be rejected. For example, no artworks depicting characters from television shows, movies, video games, or books will be accepted. All artworks must be original ideas and created entirely by the student.

Multiple Entries One entry per student.Submit artwork via the e-mail listed below or bring a hard copy to the CRA Office at City Hall

Official Contest Information-Contest begins: August 31, 2015 at 5:00pm EST-Contest rules are available: Boys and Girls Clubs, local Deerfield Beach Schools, Park and Recreation Centers, City of Deerfield Beach Website-Contest ends: December 11, 2015 at 5:00pm EST
