GLEs Across Grade Levels
The GLE stem stays the same across grade levels. What changes is the depth to which the stem is developed, and what specific skills and concepts are addressed. (see handout)
At times this has led to the perception that the same things are being taught each year. It is more likely that the instructor is referencing previously taught material to build upon that prior knowledge.

Program & Resources
Use a combination of the Connected Math Project -CMP(concept focus), Glencoe series (skill focus), and other supplementsWe are in the process of updating the Glencoe
series to include online components and multimedia capabilities to better model difficult concepts.

Off-Team Math
We have two different programs, one targeted at students who are struggling coming into grade 6, and the other, at students who at the end of grade 6 have shown themselves to be exceptional math students.
Math Enrichment is a course that students take in addition to their on-team math class. Much of the work revolves around deficiencies in basic skills.
Some students will take Algebra 1 in 7th grade, in place of their on-team math class, with those who complete the course satisfactorily, taking Algebra 2 in grade 8.
This Algebra 1 course is truly for those students who are so far ahead of the GLEs that it is inappropriate for them to be in their grade level class
Off-Team Math
Off-Team Math
We had a similar program about 8 years ago. Students had issues once they got into the high school course sequence, so we have developed different entrance criteria and are monitoring student achievement very closely.
Eligibility for the class is determined by multiple measures:Algebra Aptitude testNECAP scoresReport card gradesTeacher recommendation

Questions? Please feel free to ask your child’s math
teacher about what they are studying. They can give you specific information about the units.
There are some sheets available for you to jot down some thoughts/questions for me in particular.
Any feedback you give is much appreciated.
