2017 Texas 4-H Photography Contest http://texas4-h.tamu.edu/projects/photography-video/

Theme: For 2017 the theme is “Reflec ons”. These are photos shot off any natural or ar ficial reflec ve surface. A well-executed shot will be able to show perfect symmetry or a slightly distorted shot. Examples of photographs in the theme would be, but not limited to, photos from lakes, a window pane, a mirror, or a polished/wax car. 4-H members are encouraged to be crea ve when thinking about reflec ons in everyday life and where they are seen.

Changes to rules for 2017. Photos must be 8X10 in size with a quality resolu on. Over the past two years the majority of disqualifica on in the contest have occurred when the photography is too small to be viewed by the judge. Addi onally, please remember that all photos must be the original work of the 4-H member submi ng the photo-graph. No photograph can be submi ed which has been taken by oth-er 4-H members, a family member, or any printed/digital source. All Rules and categories can be found online at website listed above.

Wildlife Intensive Leadership Development CONSERVATION LEADERS IN EVERY COMMUNITY

The Texas Brigades is a wildlife-focused leadership development program for high school youth (ages 13-17). There are six different camps: Bobwhite Brigade, Buckskin Brigade, Bass Brigade, Waterfowl Brigade, Ranch Brigade, and Coastal Brigade. You will be introduced to habitat management, hone your communication skills, and devel-op a land ethic. The state's leading wildlife and fisheries biologists and land managers serve as instructors and mentors. Each camp is 4 ½ days long.

The camps are held on private ranches and at environmental camps in different areas of the state. In addition to learning animal anatomy and behavior, botany, nutrition, habitat management, population dynamics, etc., you will learn valuable leadership skills. You will write news releases, practice public speaking, and find out how to han-dle radio and television interviews.

Through these activities, you will develop valuable life skills that will help you regard-less of your career goals.

If you are interested in biology, conservation, leadership, or just appreciate the out-doors, you should consider applying to one of our camps. Find a career, meet new friends, and become an ambassador for conservation.
