What is mentoring

• A personal developmental relationship in which a more experienced or more knowledgeable person helps to guide a less experienced or less knowledgeable person

• A process for the transmission of knowledge

• Taking part in the learning process side-by-side with the learner

• Using your own example to demonstrate a skill or activity

Goal-setting

• A well planned goal is a powerful tool for getting things done.

• Successfully completing a goal builds self-confidence and motivation

• Goals are like having a destination in life.

• When we set a goal we tell ourselves that we are excited and passionate about achieving it.

• In planning for our success we must highlight potential obstacles

• Then plan strategies for how we will cope if we hit problems along the way

• We need to be creative in looking at our options
