3317 Five Dollars Macfarlane-Henry prefi x CF06 serials 999999, 000000 (R220) Unc and an extraordinary pair (2 notes)

The only release of the serial 000000 has been for sheets auctioned for charity in Sydney over the last few years. This is one of the very few notes with this serial released into circulation in the last 36 years since the hand numbering of 000000 notes with a “1” ceased. Common practice since that time has been the removal and destruction of the note. An article was published in an Australian Coin Review several years ago alluding to that fact. This is therefore an accidental release of such a note in Uncirculated condition, and together with the 999999 note that is often destroyed because of poor inking on the rollers, this is truly a unique pair Est. $7,500
