As you all know our community has been given an

Hall Policy

1. Each person booking the hall will be the person responsible for the time slot that

you have booked and also responsible to any damages. Must be 19 years of age to

book and only your name can be in the book one a week to give others a chance to

book. Also CLEAN UP please after your time slots.

2. The hall can only be opened to the person on the sheet and is present at the set

time. If person is not there then the person opening the hall will keep it locked and

the hall will be opened at the next time slot for whoever may have the hall booked.

Will be taking note of who has missed their time. Also the person who has booked

must stay until there time is up or get a hold of jack and sue to close the hall.

3. Booking for sports – Would fall under the weekly booking on each Monday,

bookings will take place for the available days of Monday, Wednesday, Thursday,

Saturday and Sunday on the time set as 4-6, 6-8:30, 8:30-11

4. These next bookings can be booked in advance of two weeks:

-Birthday Dinners -Celebration Parties

-Christmas Parties -Lottery Tournaments

-Culture Nights -Lahal

These events also follow the rule of the person booking is responsible for any damage and

whole time slot CLEAN UP These events do not follow the set time that are in sport

booking.

5. Feast and Potlatches and Memorial events (Dinner, Tournaments) can be Booked

up to a month in advance and All terms apply such as damage and CLEAN UP

Funeral services have no needed explanation but to state that when needed it is

given with no question especially for community members all events can be

cancelled to help accommodate our families in need.

Please note that there will be fees included as we address more on hall policies etc.

POSITION AVAILABLE FOR THE GWA’SALA-‘NAKWAXDA’XW BAND

POSITION AVAIABLE: Executive Assistant/Chief and Council Secretary

JOB SUMMARY: Reporting to the Band Manager the Executive Assistant provides executive level

support and assistance to both Council and the Band Manager. As a member of the senior management

team this position also provides policy advice to enhance the overall management of the Gwa’sala-

‘Nakwaxda’xw Nations and its various departments and programs. It is also responsible for dissemination

of sensitive information, development of new or improved office systems and procedures. An important

assignment of this position is taking minutes for Chief and Council and other meetings as required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Receives and screens information, visitors and phone calls.

Provides information and refers requests to the appropriate individual.

Files and retrieves corporate documents, records and reports

Manages the correspondence control system for the band manager’s office by ensuring

documents/calls /requests received are tracked, processed, action taken, or delegated to

appropriate managers.

Produces sensitive material relating to managerial decisions within the band manager’s office.

Prepares office correspondence, briefing packages and presentations and ensures quality control of

all documents and materials.

Maintains schedules; coordinates meetings and makes travel arrangements for Chief and Council.

Maintains office equipment and office supplies.

REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum 2 years experience working with and supporting senior staff and executive level

management.

Ability to exercise sound judgment in setting priorities and dealing with confidential and sensitive

information.

Minimum grade 12 with a certificate in Office Administration or other relevant degree.

Initiative and time-management skills to work with minimal supervision.

Ability to work in a fast paced environment and interact with administration staff and Council.

Excellent interpersonal skills, professionalism and integrity.

Excellent MS Office computer skills, Mac operating system, Power Point and Excel.

Demonstrated leadership skills.

* Preparing and cooking full course meals

* Planning menus

* Ensuring high food quality and appropriate

portion sizes

* Estimating food requirements and costs

* Inspecting kitchens and food service areas

* Training staff in food prep, cooking and

food handling

* Supervising kitchen staff and helpers

* Maintaining inventory of food, supplies and

equipment

* Working with specialized equipment (deep
