NEWSLETTERAugust - September 2014
The (not-so) hot days of summer are beginning to wane and we are gearing up for fall around here. We are excited to get back into Saskatoon's schools where we work with educators around the city to make Saskatoon a supportive place for all, and we look forward to seeing more faces around here as our Rainbow Families and Rainbow Coffee groups start back up in September. That said, summer's not over yet, and we hope you all
rdjoin us as we send it out in style at our on August 23 at the Riversdale Pool. Join us from 7-10 for burgers, prizes, and a splashing good time!
Aside from picking out our most vibrant bathing suits we are directing our energy toward the fast approaching S atchewan still has the highest rates of HIV/AIDS in Canada, and we need your help so that we can keep working to bring these numbers down. The AIDS Walk kick-off party is on Sunday, August 24th at 10:30 am at the Roxy Theatre (320 - 20th Street West), where you can join
thus as we decorate 20 street with hundreds of red ribbons to build visibility and momentum throughout the community. The main event is on Sunday, September 21st -registration starts at 9am at the Roxy Theatre, where you can pick up your Scotiabank AIDS Walk t-shirt and buy your bagged lunch from PickNic's Catering. The walk starts at 11am, rain or shine, and after we fill Saskatoon's streets with hope, support, and solidarity, we will be awarding exciting prizes and bucket draws including a weekend rental for a Cooper Mini from Bema AutoSport, and VIP year long passes to Rainbow Cinemas!
and you can help us reach this goal by walking, donating, and volunteering! Register or donate online at

August - September 2014
Hellos and Goodbyes: At this year's Annual General Meeting in June, we said goodbye to two of our board members: Rae Shoofey-Stabler and Brice Field. Rae was the Board Secretary, and we will miss her meticulous documentation, and Brice brought with him a wealth of expertise from the SDN board that has served us well over the years. Take care Brice and Rae! As well, we would like to welcome one new board member for the 2014/15 year: Jenna Blahay is no stranger to the ACC and we are happy to have her on board ;)
As the summer comes to a close, we also have to bid farewell to our 2014 Summer Students. Chelle Matthews and Vic Cowan have been with us since May, and in a few short months they have become indispensable members of our team. Not only have they assisted with event planning, research, and public relations throughout the summer, but they have both put their mark on programming, human resource initiatives, and event-planning that will add to our ongoing and futureprojects. Vic is heading off to Vancouver to begin a Masters degree in English while Chelle is continuing her degree in Political Studies at the University of Saskatchewan. We wish them the best and hope they visit often!
