Let the World be our classroom, and the people we meet our teachers!

Hello,my name is AndrsI was bornin Szkelyudvarhely. I worked in Budapestas web developer for an American com-pany. I had a good salary and a lot of par-

ties also, but after two years I have realizedthat I have to do something else that impliesa lot of challenges and adventure. In addi-

tion, I have to learn much more about worldissues, human relations in order to gainmore experience for myself. I am very ex-

cited that I have found this organizationHumana People to People where I can

develop myself, travel, socialize, get toknow more people from different cultures, to

have the possibility to use my skills for thebenefit of others and have the chance to livea variety of experiences related to human

development at the same time. Even from the

first days that I have spent in Norway, mylifestyle became more organized. This placeis much better than I have expected it to be.

Along the work and entertaining programsfor students, we have the possibility to get

involved in many activities. We have plentyof opportunities, such as: swimming, sauna, playing table tennis, riding bicycles, canoe-

ing, skiing etc. And, if you want to playsome music, you are in the right place; wehave a workshop room with a lot of instru-

ments where you can play guitar, djembe, drums, piano, flute and even more instru-ments that you are welcomed to find out. Im

very satisfied now, and I will never regretthat I have come here.

    It began like a challenge

I think this schools moulds people while

uniting them at the same time, offering toeach-other the possibility to learn from oth-ers. Frankly, I came here to understand the

concept volunteer and to answer my ques-tion: what means to be a volunteer. I alwaysadmired volunteers and the work they do,

but I never thought of myself as one. I mean,I am one of those people that did not face

any hardship in their life and everything wasneat and tidy. Volunteering is in my headfrom years ago, but, before coming here

seemed only a dream. Serene and superb, with light and specialness, but still a dream. Now I am beginning to think that this dream

will turn into something real. I see the enthu-siasm of the members of my team and theywill to go, to raise money, to work. Do what-

ever is possible to reach their goal. This iswhat I admire to all of them.

And what about the staff? They present

everything with enthusiasm and sharing withus their experiences and emotions while theytake care of every aspect of our formation as

volunteers. I think this is why One WorldInstitute is a school: because it helps all of usto become the men we want to be and to

take the challenge of facing the problems weface with: Fighting with poverty. These words

characterize the program better than I cando it in ten pages.

    Smaranda from Romnia

My name is Agnese and I am fromLatvia. I am 20 years old. I love to besurrounded by many people, be in differ-

ent environments and face new things aswell as I always wanted to gain experi-ence and learn my lessons in different way

than in a common university. So I thoughtthat this will be a place for me. Of courseeveryone has his doubts and fears, but

when I came to the place called DRHNorway, it turned out that this is the mostappropriate place for all I was wishing for

so far. And it`s worth to just try it anywaybecause it is never a failure, it is always a

lesson. And you are never alone through all

the experience. The greatest thing about

this place is that we all come from differentplaces, we are in different ages and howknows if we would meet in other circum-

stances. But here we all are. 14 people inour group. With same goal to educateourselves and share our knowledge not

only in poor countries, but even backhome.

So far our days are busy with gettingready for work and study period, withhaving great conversations, fun eveningsand outdoor activities. I had been living in

London for some time so I really miss thenature, people who are open minded, notbusy with material issues. Here I can feel

the peace and satisfaction that only natureand great personalities around can give.

For sure the peek here have been thetask we had split in groups of 2 peopleand hitch high to certain town, get ac-

commodation, food and investigate thetown. Some of us had a proper surviving

trip some of us, like I and my partnerfrom Portugal, Euclides, were really luckyto have more like fun ride with sightseeingand a lot of laughter.

Can you read this? Then you are lucky!

This means that youare a step closer to

become a part ofgreat and strong

    part of societywhich wants

    difference.

A challenge of me and mylife, and now, after just fewdays, it means a lot more.

Usually we found more clothes :)

    The poem of a Hitman

Come here my little JohnYou've born in a great nationI've forseen your great futureBut you will end in frustration.

The years have passedAnd our little big JohnnnRevealed his true natureAs an undercover spionnnn

He looked at the mapAnd he saw EcuadorA peaceful countryBut full of petrol

He took then his moneyTo go to his friend

Roldo the presidentTo show himHow he could enddd

I can give you those moneyFor America is all only cashI'll remain your friend JohnnySo, your plane will not crash

But faith was mercifulAnd Roldonito was dead

His plane run out of fuelThe birds ate planes tank.

So, America received oilAnd Ecuador started to drainThe history has provedDictators should take train.

    From the quatro in Bilibiza

On 8thof June we arrived in Maputo; we went from the airportdirectly to NHQ Machava, just outside the capital. On our way

to Nampula the bus stopped on the road with serious technicalproblems. We were amazed by the way they are fixing things very inventive to say at least: all the men from the bus helped

lifting the bus so they can change the tire and they put some plas-tic bag to the engine and it started functioning.

The first thing we made was instructing them how to build firewood savingstoves the more productive thing is to teach them by example so we made halfof the stoves ourselves. These stoves are a real good thing for the families be-

cause they don`t need so much wood to cook their daily meals; the women arewalking great distances almost every morning to bring home dry wood, they

carry these heavy burdens on their heads, the same way as they do with the

buckets of water they bring from the river.

World Peace DayWorld Peace DayTheater Performance in Lillehammer

No war will ever kill me.

I am peace! No war will ever kill me.

I am peace!Nearby everything is envailed in dust

and screams are heard all over the place. The horizon with lights coming all over from

more or less accidental detonations lights upmy face as if it would be the flash from a

photo camera. People are passing with nohaste -- or at least what is left from them --souls covered by body pieces and dishev-eled thoughts. The war has touched all of

them and none of them was forgiven. Di-lapidated buildings are about to fall down

every moment on those that have alreadyfallen to the ground; trees rooted out by

roots in places that were once parks withfoliage- nothing is no longer left in the right

order. The children are just looking at thesky covered with gray hues beneath thecardboard that they have covered their

body with it as if it was a blanket while theydream at a star. The beds are missing for along time. The roots have burnt in fire too.

The loaf of bread is today a tasteful andconsistent meal for all of them. There are no

differences. The fire and mist cover theworld and the pain is felt all over throughgritted teeth. The fear is hissing round thecorners taking the form of fuss and shots.

I am not afraid. It is easy to die and toset yourself free of everything. The pain of

the bullets and of the meteors may leaveyou mute or blind, but they dont always kill

you. The one that spat fire now keeps youalive so as to pay for the sins of those that

you dont even know, but which brought youin mood you have now.

I am not dying! I am sitting here, near

the sad world that is already reconciled withits fate, familiar with whatever will happento it. I am not crying. I just want to talk with

you so as you wont forget that many of usare lucky because they have the life that

they use to live and still they are not contentwith it.The war destroys everything, but it

doesnt crush down peoples souls. Beneath

loss of hope and dust, I fly to peace. I am awhite pigeon that unites souls in a world full

    of hope. !

On September 22 we all composedthat pigeon of peace. Either with the wings,

body or heart, all of us opened our heartand let everyone know the true meaning ofthis day. Peace Day signifies more than a

celebration; it represents a symbol, a pointof reference for people not to forget to live

in harmony and understanding with eachother. We decided to choose a city and wemade its streets be similar with roads to-

wards sky. We flew happy together, giving

smiles to everybody from the enormouswhite pigeon.

People followed us all our journey, congratulated us and they understood themessage we wanted to promote: Remem-

ber your humanity and forget the rest!Text: Tudor Enea & Translation: Smaranda

In the end when we are speaking about Africa we all know that it

has been an unforgettable experience. Beside the visual part and thefunny moments, in my opinion the problems are giving us the experi-ence finding solution for them. And the problems were creating us a

hard time, but finally in the end we all know that, great memories willstay forever.

For the September Team 2012 and the Precourse, I just wish you

all the best. I know that you will probably have hard times in Hornsj

and you will have moments where you think about quitting. But be-

lieve me everysingle moment in here worths it ALL of it!Its not that I want to say that everything is perfect but I was

    enjoying a lot.

Thats it. Enjoy Africa, India and do not forget, how much youwork and how much you went through to get there. Thats why youhave to give your best.
